GeM and CCI sign MoU for Fair Environment in e-Marketplace

 

♦ Government e Marketplace (GeM) and Competition Commission of India (CCI) have signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) to enable a fair and competitive environment in the e-Marketplace.

♦ The MoU was signed on 6th February 2019, GeM's CEO, S. Radha Chauhan and CCI's Chairman, A.K. Gupta were present on the occasion.

♦ GeM is a state-of-the-art national public procurement platform of Ministry of Commerce and Industries that has used technology to remove entry barriers for bonafide sellers and has created a vibrant e-marketplace with a wide range of goods and services.

♦ CCI is a statutory body of the Government of India, responsible for enforcing the Competition Act, 2002 throughout India and to prevent activities that have an adverse effect on competition.

 

RBI slaps Rs 1 crore fine on SBI

 

♦ Reserve Bank of India (RBI) has slapped Rs 1 crore penalty on State Bank of India (SBI) for not monitoring the end use of funds in respect of one of its borrowers.

♦ RBI has levied a penalty on SBI, by exercising its power under Section 47 A of the Banking Regulation Act, 1949.

 

Fino Payments Bank Partners with Suryoday Small Finance Bank

 

Fino Payments Bank (FPB) has partnered with Suryoday Small Finance Bank (SSFB) to offer Sweep Account Facility.

♦ As per the Reserve Bank of India (RBI), payments banks can only take deposits upto Rs 1 lakh per account but this partnership will allow customers to seamlessly transfer the excess amount from their Fino Payments Bank (FPB) account to Suryoday Small Finance Bank (SSFB) account.

 

Macedonia signs accord to Join NATO

 

♦ Macedonia signed an accord to Join NATO, to become the 30th member of the US-led alliance.

♦ The agreement was signed between Macedonia's Foreign Minister Nikola Dimitrov and NATO Secretary General Jens Stoltenberg.

 

ICG signs MoU with AAI for Maritime Search and Rescue

 

♦ Indian Coast Guard (ICG) and Airport Authority of India (AAI) signed a Memorandum of Understanding with an aim to coordinate the aeronautical and Maritime Search and Rescue (SAR) operation in congruence with the International Aeronautical Maritime Seach and Rescue (IAMSAR) standards.

♦ The MoU enhances the Rescue Coordination Centre (RCC), Kolkata and Maritime Rescue Coordination Centre (MRCC), Port Blair and AAI's mutual interactions, interoperability, and validating procedures on the occasion of SAR operations. 

 

NFDC declared winner for promotion of SC/ ST Entrepreneurs

 

♦ National Film Development Corporation (NFDC) of India has been named as the winner under the Miniratna Category by the Ministry of Micro, Small and Medium Enterprises (MSME). 

♦ It is felicitating select central public enterprises for their work towards promotion of SC/ST entrepreneurs.

 

Pradhan Manti Jan Arogya Yojana (PM-JAY) App Introduced

 

♦ Pradhan Mantri Jan Arogya Yojana (PM-JAY) App has been launched on Google play store.

♦ This scheme aims at making interventions in primary, secondary and tertiary care systems, covering both preventive and promotive health, to address healthcare holistically.

 

World Pulses Day 1st ever celebrated on 10th February 2019

 

February 10, 2019, has been declared by the United Nations to be celebrated as the first ever World Pulses Day.

This day has been built upon the success of the 2016 International Year of Pulses by the United Nations.

The main objective of this day is to raise awareness and promote the consumption of pulses at events around the globe.
