PM Modi 2nd most followed politician globally on social media

 

As per to the report released by SEMrush, Prime Minister Narendra Modi is the second most followed politician in the world on social media with a total audience of 110.9 million on the platform including Facebook, Twitter, and Instagram. after former US President Barack Obama who was ranked first with 182.7 million followers 

Narendra Modi has overtaken the present US president Donald Trump, who has 96 million followers globally. However, Trump still enjoys the second most followed politician globally on Twitter (with 59.8 million followers).

Modi has collected over 43 million followers on Facebook, more than 20 million followers on Instagram and 47 million followers on Twitter.

Congress Party President Rahul Gandhi has accumulated 12 million followers on social media.
 

Chhattisgarh deploys 1st Anti-Naxal Women Commando Unit

 

The Chhattisgarh police for the first time has inducted women commandos in the District Reserve Guard (DRG), its frontline anti-Naxal force.

Comprising 30 women led by Deputy Superintendent of Police (DSP) Dineshwari Nand, have received extensive training in jungle combat.

with the induction of the women commando contingent, the number of platoons of the DRG in Dantewada now stands at six.

IIT-Bombay researchers develop 'Made in India' microprocessor

 

Engineers from the Indian Institute of Technology Bombay (IIT Bombay) have developed a microprocessor called AJIT,

It is the first microprocessor that has been entirely created in India.

It can be used a set-top box, as a control panel for automation systems, in a traffic light controller or even robotic systems.

The project was funded by the Ministry of Electronics and Information Technology (MeitY) and IIT Bombay.

Prof. Manav Desai and his team of nine researchers from IIT Bombay designed the processor entirely at the institute. They developed the chip of microprocessor at the government-owned Semi-Conductor Laboratory in Chandigarh.

Vice President embarks on a 4-day official visit to Vietnam

 

Vice President of India Venkaiah Naidu embarked on a 4-day official visit to Vietnam to participate in 16th United Nations Day of Vesak.

During the visit, VP will deliver the keynote address at the inaugural session of the event themed as "Buddhist Approach to Global Leadership and Shared Responsibilities for Sustainable Societies".

The visit is expected to enhance India's comprehensive strategic partnership with Vietnam.

Singapore passes 'Fake News' Law

 

Singapore has passed an anti-fake new law to curb the spread of fake news.

The law empowers the government to direct social media platform such as Facebook and Twitter to carry corrections, remove content, or block website deemed to be propagating falsehoods contrary to the public interest.

A Person found guilty of spreading fake news in Singapore could be fined heavily and/or jailed for up to five years. It also bans the use of fake accounts or bots to spread fake news - this carries penalties of up to S$1 million (over Rs  5.12 crore) and a jail term of up to 10 years.

 

India and China sign a protocol for exportation of Indian chili meal

 

India and China signed a protocol for the export of Indian Chilli meal to China.

This is the fourth protocol signed between the two nations over the past year allowing the export of farm commodities from India.

Commerce Secretary Anup Wadhawan and General Administration of Customs of China (GACC) Vice-Minister Li Guo, who signed the protocol at a meeting, and also discussed issues related to India's pending request for the clearance of more farm products for the Chinese market.

Both sides agreed to resolve market access issues expeditiously in order to achieve the vision of the leaders of both India and China by promoting a more balanced trade.
