Scientist Ajit Kumar appointed new chief of BARC

 

Distinguished scientist Ajit Kumar Mohanty was appointed Director of Bhabha Atomic Research Centre (BARC), the county's premier multi-disciplinary nuclear research facility.

He has been appointed for a period of three years.

He is at present Director, Physics Group in BARC and Director, Saha Institute of Nuclear Physics.

MP Govt. increases reservation Quota of OBCs to 27%

 

Madhya Pradesh government approved an Ordinance increasing reservation quota for Other Backward Classes (OBCs) to 27% from the current 14%.

It made Madhya Pradesh the only state in India to have 27% quota for OBCs.

The announcement was made by the state's Law and Legal Affairs Minister PC Sharma.

IBBI signs Corporation Agreement with IFC

 

Insolvency and Bankruptcy Board of India (IBB) has signed a Cooperation Agreement with the International Finance Corporation (IFC), a member of the World Bank Group (WBG).

The agreement was signed by K.R. Saji Kumar, Executive Director, IBBI and Jun Zhang, Country Manager, IFC India.

The agreement will enable IFC to assist IBBI to further build the capacity of insolvency professionals, and insolvency professional agencies for the purposes of the Code.

India bags 1st Prize at International 'Golden City Gate Tourism Award 2019' 

 

The Ministry of Tourism, Government of India has bagged the First Prize in the category of TV Cinema Spot at the International Golden City Gate Tourism Awards 2019 held at Internationale Tourismus-Borse (ITB), Berlin.

The award was received by Yogendra Tripathi, Secretary, Tourism.

The awards were given for the following promotional films and TV commercials produced by the Ministry as part of its the Incredible India 2.0 Campaign:

  • Yogi of the Race track
  • The Reincarnation of Mr. and Mrs. Jones
  • Sanctuary in Paris
  • Maharani of Manhattan
  • The Masala Master Chef

 

14th CII-EXIM Bank Conclave on India-Africa Project Partnerships to be held in New Delhi

 

Ministry of Commerce & Industry will be organizing the 14th CII EXIM Bank Conclave on India-Africa Project Partnerships, in association with Confederation of Indian Industry and EXIM Bank of India in New Delhi.

The event will mark the deepening of India-Africa economic and business ties and pave the way for a whole range of cross-border project Partnerships.

The conclave is expected to see the participation of 400 plus delegates from Africa and around 300 delegates from India.

 

Guinness World Records: Japanese Women Honoured as World's Oldest Person Alive

 

A 116-year-old Japanese woman born on January 2, 1903, who loves playing the board game Othello was honored as the world's oldest living person by Guinness World Records.

She lives in Fukuoka, Japan.

The previous oldest person was another Japanese women, Chiyo Miyako, who died in July 2018 at age 117.

Mohammad Shatayyeh named as new PM of Palestinian

 

Mohammad Shtayyeh has been named as Prime Minister of Palestine by President of Palestine Authority Mahmoud Abbas.

Mohammad Shtayyed succeeds Rami al-Hamadallah.

He is a member of the West Bank's dominant Fatah party.

 

Korea Exim Bank Extends Rs 4,100 crore Loan for Vizag Metro

 

Korea Exim Bank has come forward to provide a Rs 4,100 crore for Visakhapatnam (VIZAG) Metro Rail Project.

The state government had earlier sent a proposal in this regard to the Central government, which in turn forward it to Korean Exim Bank. Following this, Bank deputed a team to Amaravati to hold talks with the state government.
