One year after Pulwama attack: How India Witnessed a 'black day' on February 14

Pulwama terror attack has been one of the worst terrorist attacks in Jammu and Kashmir, which claimed the lives of 40 CRPF jawans. The attack followed massive protests, candle-light marches and bandhs across the country, where people came on the streets to demand justice for those killed in the attack. India had avenged the Pulwama attack through Balakot airstrike.

President Ram Nath Kovind paid tribute to the Pulwama attack martyrs by saluting their supreme sacrifice and reaffirming India's resolve to defeat and eliminate terrorism in all its forms & manifestations.

Former TERI Chief RK Pachauri Passed away

Former TERI Chief RK Pachauri, 79, passed away on 13 February due to a prolonged battle against heart illness. Rk Pachauri played a pivotal role in growing the New Delhi-based The Energy and Resouces Institute (TERI) and making it a premier global organization in the sustainability space. He was the found-director and former chairman of the UN's Intergovernment Panel on Climate Change (IPCC). He became chief executive of TERI in 1981 and headed TERI for more than three decades.IPCC got the Nobel Peace Prize jointly with former US vice-president A1 Gore under the leadeship of Pachauri.

Rishi Sunak, Narayana Murthy's Son-in-law, Named new UK Finance Minister

Indian-origin Rishi Sunak was named as the new Finance Minister of The United Kindom by PM Boris Johnson on February 13, 2020. Rishi Sunak is the son-in-law of Infosys co-founder Narayana Murthy. Rishi Sunak has been appointed as the Chancellor of the Excheque in Boris Johnson's cabinet. He will be replacing Sajid Javid, who resigned from the post in a surprising move.

Piyush Goyal Inaugurated the Phase 1 of East-West Metro Corridor of Kolkata Metro

Rishi Sunak has been appointed as the Chancellor of the Exchequer in Boris Johnson's Cabinet. Minister of Railways and Commerce & Industry Piyush Goyal inaugurated and flagged off the Phase 1 of East-West Metro Corridor of Kolkata Metro on 13 February at a function in Kolkata. He also dedicated a project in Katwa-Azimganj and Monigram-Nalhati sections of Howrah and Malda Divisions.The East-west cossidor up to Howrah Maidan is expected to be completed by December 2021.

Indian Hockey captain wins FIH Men's Player of the Year 2019 award

Manpreet Singh has become the first Indian to win International Hockey Federation's Men's Player of the Year award. Manpreet Singh, India men's hockey team captain was named the player of the Year 2029 by the Internnational Hockey Federation (FIH). Manpreet Singh has become the first Indian to be awarded since its introduction in 1999. He beat Belgium's Arthur van Dorren and Argentina's Lucas Villa to win the honour with 35.2 percent of combined votes.

MoFPI to Organize National Organic Festival

Ministry of Food Processing Industries (MoFPI) is to organize a National Organic Festival with a special focus on women enterpreneurs. The festival will be jointly organised by the MoFPI and Ministry of Women and Child Development (MoWCD). The festival will be held from 21-23 February 2020 at Jawaharlal Nehru Stadium, New Delhi.
