Sana Mir becomes the highest wicket-taking spinner in ODI

 

• Pakistani off-spinner Sana Mir has become the most successful spinner in the history of women's ODI after she took her 147th wicket, highest ever by any spinner in ODI cricket.

• Mir made her ODI debut back in 2005.

• The 33-year-old Mir is currently placed on the third position in the ICC's ODI bowling ranking, which is topped by Indian pacer Jhulan Goswami.

 

IPS Officer Chhaya Sharma, who led Nirbhaya rape case conferred McCain Institute

 

• IPS Officer Chhaya Sharma, who led the investigation team of the infamous Nirbhaya gang-rape and murder case, has been conferred with the 2019 McCain Institute Award for Courage and Leadership.

• The award was presented to her at the Sedona Forum 2019 at Arizona.

• The recipients are selected on the basis of their acts of personal courage on behalf of human rights, humanitarian compassion, justice, freedom, and human dignity.

• The award is given every year to honor an individual or group, who has stood unwaveringly for fundamental values and has inspired the world through acts of selfless courage.

ICICI Bank joins hands with Travel Portal Goibibo to launch multi-currency card

 

• ICICI Bank has joined hands with online travel booking portal Goibibo to launch co-branded multi-currency card.

• The card also includes benefits of up to Rs 20,000, including gift vouchers of Rs 15,000 from Goibibo along with other benefits, that can be used to purchase flights and book hotels on the travel site. Additionally, customers will also get 40 paise discount on the currency conversion rate on the loading of a minimum $1,000.

• The allows customers to instantly convert money from one currency to another at bank's internet portal, as well as reload currency into the card anytime, anywhere using the bank's mobile and internet banking platform.

NABARD announces Rs 700 crore venture capital fund for agri, rural startups

 

• Nabventures, a subsidiary of NABARD announced Rs 700-crore venture capital fund for equity investments in agriculture and rural startups.

• The fund - NABVENTURES Fund I - with a proposed corpus of Rs 500 crore, has a greenshoe option of Rs 200 crore and has received an anchor commitment from NABARD.

• The National Bank for Agriculture and Rural Development (NABARD) is a development finance institution.

• The fund plans to raise the resources from a mix of domestic as well as global investors.

RBI slaps Rs 1 crore fine on Nainital Bank

 

• The Reserve Bank of India has imposed a monetary penalty of Rs 1 crore Nainital Bank for its failure to fully automate the non-performing asset (NPA) identification process, in spite of specific directions issued in this regard.

• This penalty has been imposed in exercise of powers vested in the RBI under the provisions of the Banking Regulation Act, 1949, taking into account the failure of the bank to adhere to the aforesaid direction issued by RBI.

• India's GS Lakshmi has become the first ever woman to be appointed to the ICC International Panel of Match Referees and will be eligible to referee international games with immediate effect.

• The 51-year-old Lakshmi, who first officiated as a match referee in domestic women's cricket in 2008-09, has overseen three women's ODI matches and women's T20I matches.

• Earlier this month, Claire Polosak had become the first ever umpire to stand in a women's ODI.
