India's First Foreign Interactive Bird Park launched in Mumbai

 

India's first exotic Bird Park 'Essel World Bird Park' was launched by EsselWorld Leisure Pvt. Ltd, the entertainment arm of the $6-billion Essel Group in Mumbai.

EsselWorld is the largest amusement park in the country and Water Kingdom is one of the largest Theme Water Parks in Asia.

The Park is spread over 1.4 acres of land and surrounded by flora and fauna.

It is home to over 500 exotic birds from more than 60 species of flying, terrestrial and aquatic birds and has 200 species of special plants and trees for the birds.

NY Times, Wall Street Journal win Pulitzers for Trump probes

 

The New York Times and The Wall Street Journal were awarded Pulitzer Prizes for their separate investigations of President Donald Trump and his family.

The Times won the prestigious journalism award for a probe of the Trump family's finances that debunked his claims of self-made wealth and revealed a business empire riddled with tax dodges.

The Pulitzer Prize Board announced during a ceremony at New York's Columbia University.

 

Hong Kong beats Japan as World's 3rd largest Stock Market

 

Hong Kong's equity market has overtaken Japan to be the world's third largest in value, behind only the U.S. and mainland China.

Hongkong's market cap was $5.78 trillion, compared with $5.76 trillion for Japan, according to data compiled by Bloomberg based on where primary securities are listed.

The Asian city's Hang Seng Index climbed 175 in 2019 through, when it closed at its highest since June 15. Internet giant Tencent Holdings Ltd. has been the main driver with a 22% gain. Japan's Topix Index advanced 8.3% in that period.

 

IDRBT sets up 5G Lab for Banking, Financial Sector

 

The Institute of Development and Research in Banking Technology (IDRBT), which is an arm of Reserve Bank of India, has launched a 5G Use Cases Lab for banking and financial sector along with blockchain technology.

The 5G technology had already launched test beds for 5G use in the academia in Hyderabad, Chennai, and Bangalore to develop 5G for Indian use.

The use of 5G will change a range of technologies and applications including point of sale machines in the banking sector which were now using 2G.

The 5G lab will develop and domesticate 5G use cases and set up a research and development experience platform for banking and financial services.

 

Kyaw Soe Oo and Wa Lone honored with the 2019 UNESCO/Guillermo Cano Press Freedom Prize

 

Reuters journalists, Kyaw Soe Oo, and Wa Lone have been selected for UNESCO/Guillermo Cano Press Freedom Prize 2019 for recognizing their commitment, courage, and resistance to freedom of expression.

The UNESCO/Guillermo Cano World Press Freedom Prize will be given on May 2 as part of the observance of World Press Freedom Day (3 May) in Ethiopia.

The award is a tribute to Colombian journalist Guillermo Cano Isaza. On 17 December 1986, he was killed in front of the offices of his newspaper EI Espectador in Bogota, Colombia.
