Karnataka government  launches E-Step to empower student start-ups

 

The Department of IT, BT, and S&T in Karnataka Innovation and Technology Society (KITS), has launched the E-Step, an initiative to empower student start-ups.

The E-step focuses on boot camps, mentoring and training programs which cover various aspects of enterpreneurship.

It is an initiative from start-up cell, is specially crafted for students/ start-ups/ enterpreneurs to understand the basics of enterpreneurship from experienced trainers.

Rajasthan wins best innovation awards at 14th World Education Summit 2019

 

Rajasthan bagged the best innovation and initiative leadership award 2019 in the 14th elets World Education SUmmit (WES) held at New Delhi.

The award is for its achievements in higher education.

The award was received by the Minister of State for Higher Education Bhanwar Singh Bhati.

The State was awarded for promoting higher education with the emphasis on inculcating ethical values among the students and developing their skills to face competitive exams.

First ever space museum of India inaugurated at Hyderabad

 

The first Space Museum of India opened in Hyderabad.

It was inaugurated on the celebration on golden jubilee year of the Birla Archaeological and Cultural Research Institute (BACRI).

The museum is housed in the Birla Science Museum. It gave Space of 9000 square feet to set up the space museum.

The space museum is located on the erstwhile Naubat Pahad, Telangana in the centre of the city.

It's a collaborative effort between ISRO and the B M Birla Science Centre.

IIT Madras fabricats a rechargeable iron ion batteries

 

For the first time, Researchers from Indian Institute of Technology (IIT) Madras have successfully fabricated a rechargeable iron batteries.

IIT Madras researchers have used mild steel as the anode to achieve the feat.

 

IIT Hyderabad, NIT Jalandhar Researchers develop Bone Implant Materials from waste Egghells

 

IIT Hyderabad and Dr. B R Ambedkar NIT Jalandhar (Punjab) researchers have developed a process by which bone implant materials can be synthesized from egghells which are dumped as waste.

This will help people, who are affected in using synthetic chemicals as bone replacement materials because of the presence of chemical residues. Plaster of Paris is commonly used by people to heal bone defects but it is highly toxic.

 


P.T. Usha appoints in AAAs Athletes commission

 

Former Indian athlete and Olmpian P.T. Usha has been appointed as a member of the Asian Athletics Association (AAA).

This the 2nd time she is appointed as member of AAA Athletes Commission.

She wil be one of the six members of the AAA Athletes Commission, which will be headed by 1992 Olympics gold medalist hammer thrower Andrey Abduvaliyev of Uzbekistan.

 

VG Somani appointed as new DCGI of CDSCO

 

The Appointment Committee of the Cabinet (ACC) appointed VG Somani as new Drug Controller of India (DCGI) of Central Drugs Standard Control Organisation (CDSCO).

DCGI heads CDSCO which is responsible to ensure quality drugs supply across the country. In addition, CDSCO also has authority to give approval to new drugs and regulating clinical trials.

Somani succeeds DR. S. Eswara Reddy, who was on ad-hoc position for the post of DCGI.

ISRO Chairman K.Sivan conferred with Dr, A.P.J. Abdul Kalam award

 

Indian Space Research Organisation (ISRO) Chairman K.Sivan was conferred with Dr, A.P.J. Abdul Kalam award by the Tamil Nadu government.

He was awarded in recognition of his stellar work in promotion of science and technology.

ISRO Chairman K. Sivan, under whose leadership the Chandrayaan-2 mission (mission to the moon) is launched.

The award was announced at the Independence Day celebration at Fort St. George, Tamil Nadu.

Denmark's Jyske Bank launched world's first negative interest rate Home loan

 

 

Denamark's third-largest Bank of Denmark-Jyske launched the World's first negative interest rate for Home laon, the charge is -0.5% a year.

The bank offers a 10-year deal at -0.5%. Jyske bank borrowers will make a monthly repayment, as usual, The amount still outstanding will be reduced each month by more than the borrower.

Negative interest rates effectively mean that a bank pays a borrower to take off money their hands, so they pay back less than they have been loaned.

Another Danish bank, Nordea will begin offering 20-year fixed-rate deals at 0% and a 30-year mortgage at 0.5%.

Harshad Pandurang Thakur appointed as NIHFW's director

 

Harshad Pandurang Thakur has been appointed as the director of National Institute of Health and Family Welfare for a period of five years.

The proposal of appointment was approved by the appointments Committee of the Cabinet, headed by Prime MInister.

The NIHFW, an autonomous organisation uder the MInistry of Health and Family Welfare, acts as an apex technical institute as well as a think tank for the promotion of health and family welfare programmes in the country.

 

IAF Wing Commander Abhinandan Varthaman awarded with the Vir Chakra

 

IAF Wing Commander Abhinandan Varthaman has been conferred the Vir Chakra, India's third highest was time gallantry medal.

The defence ministry announced the military awards on the eve of Independence Day celebrations.

From the Army, Sapper Prakash Jadhav of the Rashtriya Rifles will be posthumously awarded Kirti Chakra, the second highest peacetime gallantry award.
