Andhra Pradesh flagged off India's 1st 'Fruit Train'

 

A 'fruit train' said to be the first of its kind in the country, was flagged off from Tadipatri Railway Station in Anantapur district of Andhra Pradesh.

It carried a load of 980 metric tonnes of locally grown bananas to the Jawaharlal Nehru Port Trust (JNP) in Mumbai, Maharashtra from where it will be exported to Iran.


HRD Minister chaired meeting of the INCCU with UNESCO in New Delhi

 

HRD Minister Shri Ramesh Pokhriyal 'Nishank' chaired the meeting of the Indian National Commission for Cooperation with UNESCO (INCCU) in New Delhi.

This was the 1st meeting after the National Commission's reconstitution.

The national commission consists of members of 5 sub-commissions namely, Education, Natural Sciences, Social Sciences, Communication, and Culture. 

 

Ajay Bisaria Appointed as Next High Commissioner of India to Canada

 

Ajay Bisaria was appointed High Commissioner to Canada.

Mr. Ajay Bisaria was serving as High Commissioner of India to Pakistan but returned to India in August 2019 after Islamabad expelled him.

Mr. Bisaria is going to replace Vikas Swarup who served as High Commissioner of India to Canada, he is now appointed as Secretary (Consular, Passport and Visa and Overseas Indian Affairs) at the Ministry of External Affairs.

 

Arvind Krishna appointed CEO of IBM

 

Arvind Krishna has been appointed as the new Chief Executive Officer (CEO) of International Business Machines Corp (IBM), succeeding Ginni Rometty.

Arvind Krishna is currently IBM Senior Vice President for Cloud and Cognitive Software.

Ginni Marie Rometty will retire after almost 40 years with the company at the end of the year.

 

Abidali Neemuchwala quits as CEO and MD from Wipro

 

Abidali Z Neemuchwala has quit as the Chief Executive Officer(CEO) and Managing Director (MD) from Wipro.

He is leaving due to family commitments and will continue to hold office until CEO has been appointed.

He joined Wipro in April 2015 as the president and chief operating officer, after having served at Tata Consultancy Services

 

NABARD approved loan to Punjab Agri Development Bank

 

The National Bank for Agriculture and Rural Development (NABARD) has approved loan of Rs. 140 crore at low-interest rates to Punjab State Agricultural Development Bank (PSADB).

The decision to provide Rs 140 crore was taken during a meeting between Punjab Cooperation Minister Sukhjinder Singh Randhawa led delegation with NABARD Chairman Harsh Kumar Banwala in Mumbai, Maharashtra.

 

Bank of Baroda partnered with CARE Ratings

 

Bank of Baroda has signed a pact with Care Ratings to assess the credit quality of small and medium enterprises (SME) customers.

The rating will evaluate the credit quality of existing and prospective SME customers of the bank, will be assessed by the rating agency by processing and analyzing structured, unstructured and new data streams.

 

2019 Global Go To Think Tank Index Report

 

The 2019 Global Go to Think Tank Report (GGTTI) was released by the Lauder Institute's Think Tank and Civil Society Program (TTCSP) at the University of Pennsylvania, USA.

The index ranks the top think tanks around the world.

According to the report, India's Observer Research Foundation (ORF) was ranked at 27th place among 176 global think tanks.

The report was topped by Carnegie Endowment for International Peace (CEIP) of US.

 

Andhra Pradesh govt launched a doorstep pension delivery scheme

 

Andhra Pradesh govt has launched a doorstep pension delivery scheme named YSR Pension Kanuka.

Under the scheme, various welfare pensions are being delivered at the doorstep of the pensioners.

The old age pensioners age has also been reduced from 65 to 60 years.

 

Madhya Pradesh bags the first position for the implementation of PMMVY

 

Union Minister of Women and Child Development Smriti Irani for the implementation of Pradhan Mantri Matru Vandana Yojana in the state of Madhya Pradesh.

Madhya Pradesh's Minister for Women and Child Development Imarti Devi and Principal Secretary Anupam Rajan will receive the award.

Indore has been ranked at 1st place among the districts for better performance of the scheme.
