LIC launched a New Micro Insurance Plan "Micro Bachat"


Life Insurance Corporation (LIC) of India has launched a new micro insurance plan 'Micro Bachat' 

For the first time, a Micro Insurance Plan has been launched providing coverage upto 2 lakh. The minimum basic sum assured is Rs 50,000.

It provides both protection and saving and is a regular premium, non-linked, participating endowment Micro Insurance Plan.

It provides financial support for the family in case of unfortunate death of the Policyholder during the policy term and a lump sum amount at the time of maturity for the surviving policyholders.

It can be availed only by standard healthy citizens in the age group of 18-55 years without undergoing any medical examination.

The Micro Insurance Plan will be eligible for loyalty additions after 5 years, the decision of which will lie with the organization. People can also avail loans from this plan provided that premiums have been paid for three full years.


Commerce Minister launched 'SWAYATT' on GeM


Union Minister of Commerce & Industry and Civil Aviation, Suresh Prabhu launched 'SWAYATT' in New Delhi;

SWAYATT is an initiative to promote MSMEs, women and young entrepreneurs through e-transactions on the Government e-Marketplace (GeM).

The objective is to bring together the key stakeholders within the Indian entrepreneurial ecosystem to GeM, the national procurement portal.

Chief Executive Officer of GeM, Radha Chauhan, introduced the concept of SWAYATT and Start-up Runway.


HDFC ERGO launched 1st-of-its-kind 'Trip Protector' Policy


HDFC ERGO General Insurance Company, India's third-largest non-life insurance provider in the private sector, has launched the first-of-its-kind 'Trip Protector' Insurance Policy, a pioneering policy in the non-life insurance segment in India

This policy will cover the cancellation of pre-booked flights and hotels for both domestic and international travel.

In case flights or hotels cancellation, Trip Protector insurance policy will safeguard travelers financially against the cost of cancellation levied by Hotels or Airlines.


Bandicoot-A Drainage-Cleaning Robot introduced in Chennai


Bandicoot, a drainage-cleaning robot, has been introduced in Chennai, Tamil Nadu, for the first time in India at the Kumbakonam city corporation as part of efforts to rid of manual scavenging.

The robot named Bandicoot has been introduced at the of Rs 18 lakh.

It is a semi-automatic robot can enter manholes for cleaning sewage lines with its robotic arm and is equipped with 5 night-vision cameras to relay the scenario underneath.

Drainage cleaning could be detected by viewing the blockages on the screen.


PM flagged off 1st Ever Diesel to Electric Conversion Locomotive


Prime Minister Narendra Modi flagged off the first ever diesel to electric converted locomotive in Varanasi.

twin engine of 10000 Horse Power (HP) at the DLW.

Under the 'Make in India' initiative, India Railways has created history by converting a diesel locomotive into electric locomotive for the first time in the world.

The converted electric locomotive delivers 10.000 HP against 2 X 2612 HP of two diesel locomotive (92% more power). A 10,000 HP of haulage power is adequate to haul a load up to nearly 5300 Tonnes, providing around 2 :1 HP to trailing load ratio.


GC Anupama became 1st woman President of Astronomical Society of India


GC Anupama became 1st woman president of Astronomical Society of India, she has been elected to this post for a tenure of 3year.

The appointment comes 47 years after the Astronomical Society of India came into existence in 1972.

She will succeed RK Tyagi.

She currently holds the position of dean and senior professor at the Indian Institute of Astrophysics (IIA), Bangalore.


Govt. relaxes Angel Tax Norms for Start-ups from 7 years to 10 years


The Ministry of Commerce and Industry relaxes Angel Tax Norms for start-ups from 7 years to 10 years, in an attempt to provide relief to and boost investments into start-ups in India, has decided to simplify the process for them to get exemptions under the Income Tax Act, 1961.

It will now recognize an entity as a start-up up to 10 years from the date of its incorporation or registration instead of the existing duration of 7 years.

The government has also expanded the turnover criteria. Now a firm can be a startup even If its turnover for any of the financial years since its incorporation or registration does not exceed Rs 100 crore unlike the previous amount of Rs 25 crore.


One Health India Conference 2019 inaugurated in New Delhi


Union Science & Technology Minister, Dr. Harsh Vardhan, inaugurated One Helth India Conference 2019 in New Delhi.

The Objective of this conference was to formulate a roadmap for the response, preparedness, and management of current regional, national and global health challenges by bringing together leaders from across the globe.

The conference plans to launch India's new One Health Initiative, an intersectoral approach to tackling the most urgent health threats in India as well as in low and middle-income countries across South and South East Asia and Sub-Saharan Africa.


Saudi Arabia became 73rd Nation to sign International Solar Alliance


Saudi Arabia became the 73rd nation to sign the International Solar Alliance.

International Solar Alliance was unveiled by Prime Minister Narendra Modi and Former French President Francois Hollande in 2015.

The move came at Saudi Abia's Crown Prince Mohammed bin Salman visit to India


International Mother Language Day: 21 February


International Mother Language Day is observed on 21st February every year to promote linguistic and cultural diversity and multilingualism.

It has been observed throughout the world since February 21st February 2000.

The theme for International Mother Language Day 2019 "Indigenous language matter for development, peace building and reconciliation".
