Ganga Kayak Festival celebrated in Uttarakhand

 

8th edition of the “Ganga Kayak festival” was inaugurated by MLA (Member of the Legislative Assembly) Vinod Kandari in Devprayag, Uttarakhand.

The festival was celebrated for 3 days from feb.17, 2020 to feb. 19, 2020.

The festival was organized by the Uttarakhand Tourism Development Board

 

Nepal celebrated 70th National Democracy Day

 

The Nepali Government has celebrated 70th National Democracy Day on 19th February.

The day is being celebrated every year on Falgun 7 to commemorate the attainment of democracy from the 104-year long autocratic Rana Regime.

 

Prakash Javadekar releases reference annuals ‘Bharat 2020’ & ‘India 2020’

 

The Union cabinet Minister for the Ministry of Environment, Forest and Climate Change Shri. Prakash Javadekar has released the Reference Annual Bharat 2020 & India 2020 in New Delhi along with the E-version of the yearbooks.

The book consists of the information about India and its developments, progress and achievements of various Government Ministries, Departments and Organisations during the year 2019.

 

Dhaka hosts the Seminar on Indian Defence Equipment

 

High Commission of India in Bangladesh organized the Seminar on Indian Defence Equipment in Dhaka which was attended by 12 Indian firms.

Aim of the seminar was to pursue further cooperation between India and Bangladesh in the field of defence technologies.

 

India to host AFC Women’s Asian Cup in 2022

 

Asian Football Confederation's (AFC) Women's Committee has announced that India will host the 2022 AFC Women's Asian Cup. 

India has proposed venues namely DY Patil Stadium, Trans Stadia Arena and Fatorda Stadium for the tournament.

 

Tripura Tea Board organizzes ‘Run for India Tea’ event

 

In Tripura, Tea Board of India in collaboration with Tripura Tea Development Corporation (TTDC)  organized "Run for India Tea"

The event aims to further promote and popularise Tripura tea alongside India tea and to boost the tea industry in the state.

The event was followed by a colourful tableau procession which featured the participation of large number of tea workers wearing traditional dresses.

Arunachal Pradesh celebrates its 34th Statehood Day on 20th February 2020.

On this day, This North-Eastern state got a statehood status on February 20, 1987. 

 

Twitter acquired Chroma Labs founded by Facebook veterans

 

Twitter has acquired California-based Chromo Labs for an undisclosed amount.

Chromo Labs develop tools for short-form video & photo creation and was founded by 7 Facebook and instagram workers in 2018.

 

International Mother Language Day observed on Feb 21

 

UNESCO celebrated the International Mother Language Day 21st February

The theme is "Languages without borders”.

The day was celebrated to make people aware about the language, cultural diversity and multilingualism all across the world.

 

Kiran Mazumdar-Shaw won EY Entrepreneur of the Year award for 2019

 

Kiran Mazumdar-Shaw has been named the EY Entrepreneur of the Year India 2019 and will now represent India at the EY World Entrepreneur of the Year Award (WEOY) in Monte Carlo from 4 – 6 June 2020

She will also represent India at the EY World Entrepreneur of the Year Award (WEOY) in Monte Carlo between June 4 and 6, 2020. 

The award honours those who have contributed significantly towards nation building with their entrepreneurial ingenuity and visionary ideas. 

 

Indian freelance journalist Ahmer Khan wins AFP’s Kate Webb Prize

 

Ahmer Khan, the 27-year old Indian freelance reporter, was named the winner of the 2019 Kate Webb Prize by the Agence France-Presse.

Khan  was honoured for his series of videos and written reports on how people in Kashmir impacted while scraping article 370 by the Government of India.

 

Bharat-Bangla Paryatan Utsav begins in Agartala

 

Chief Minister Biplab Kumar Deb inaugurated the first-ever 2 days long Bharat-Bangla Paryatan Utsav, in Agartala, Tripura.

The aim of the ustav to promote the tourism in Tripura.

The festival has been organized in memories of the contribution of Tripura in 1971 Bangladesh liberation war as well as to boost the tourism sector of Tripura.

 

India’s tallest pier bridge built by Northeast Frontier Railway in Manipur

 

The Northeast Frontier Railway Construction Organisation has built India’s tallest railway pier bridge, which is 100 m tall.

The bridge has been built across Makru river in the Tamenglong district of Manipur.

The bridge has been constructed at the cost of Rs 283.5-crore.
