Panjab CM launched "Sarbat Sehat Bima Yojana"

 

Panjab Chief Minister has launched a universal health insurance scheme "Sarbat Sehat Bima Yojana" .

The scheme will benefit nearly 46 lakh families.

Scheme would be extended to over  76% of the state's population.

With this scheme, Pujab has become the first state in the country to offer medical insurance cover to the maximum number of its people.

The scheme will provide cashless treatment up to Rs 5 lakh per family per year including pre-existing diseases.

Indian-American teen Navneeth Murali wins 2019 South Asian Spelling Bee competition

 

Navneeth Murali, an Indian-American teenager from Neq Jersey, has won the 2019 South Asian Spelling Bee contest.

The prize money for this contest is USD 3,000.

South Asian Spell (SAS) bee competition is an annual spelling bee platform in the US for children of South Asian descent, in which contestants are asked to spell a board selection of words, usually with a varying degree of difficulty.

It is to children up to 14 years of age held in five regional centres across the US, including New Jersey, Washington DC, Dallas, the San Francisco Bay Area and Charlottee.

 

Wipro partners with IISc on robotics and 5G

 

Wipro partnered with the Indian Institute of Science (IISc) to conduct advanced applied research in autonomous systems, robotics and 5G.

They have jointly set up the Wipro IISc Research and Innovation Network (WRIN), a hybrid industry-academia collaboration unit, which will drive idea discovery, research and innovation in technology and product design.

DRDO handed over the design of Mobile Metalic Ramp (MMR) to the Indian Army

 

The Defence Research and Development Organisation (DRDO) handed over the design of Mobile Metalic Ramp (MMR) to the Indian Army in an event held at the DRDO bhawan in New Delhi.

The designs of MMR were handed over by Chairman of DRDO Dr. G. Satheesh Reddy to Vice Chief of Army Staff, Lt Gen Devraj Anbu.

MMR will be beneficial for the Army in various manners; it will provide strategic mobility to the mechanized units and formations of the Army. Since, it is modular in design and protable, which can be easily assembled or disassembled.

IIT-Delhi start-up wins NCPEDP-Mphasis Univeral Design Award 2019

 

IIT Delhi, Ms Ankita was awarded the NCPEDP-Mphasis Universal Design Award 2019.

She has won the award for developing multisensory kit named TouchVision.

IIT Delhi-incubated start-up working on the design and development of inclusive learning resources for visually impaired people.

NCPEDP-Mphasis Universal Design Award is given every year to those who have been doing exemplary work towards the cause of accessibility and thus ensuring a life of equality and dignity for people with disabilities.

 

IIT Guwahati researchers developed membranes that can separate oil and water

 

IIT Guwahati researchers have developed two distinct and special membranes that can separate oil and water, even under harsh conditions.

The development is expected to be used in applications of oil spill management.

The work is published in ACS Sustainable Chemistry & Engineering journal.

 

Para swimmer Satendra Singh Lohia crosses America's Catalina Channel

 

Indian Para Swimmer Satendra Singh Lohia from Madhya Pradesh has become the first Asian swimmer to cross the Catalina Channel of America.

He holds the Asian recor of crossing both the English and Catalina channels.

Satendra led the Indian Para Relay team along with 5 team mates and crossed the Catalina Channel and covered the distance of 42 km in 11 hours 34 minutes.

 

Formmer Madhya Pradesh CM Babulal Gaur passes away

 

Former Chief Minister of Madhya Pradesh, Babulal Gaur passed away at the age of 89 years.

He served as the Chief Minister of Madhya Pradesh from August 2004 to November 2005 and represented Govindpura Assembly seat for 10 times.
