Amitabh Bachchan has been selected for the highest Indian film honour-Dadasaheb Phalke award for the year 2019. Amitabh Bachchan is the recipient of India's fourth-highest civilian honor, the Padma Shri in 1984. The legendary actor also received the third-highest civilian honor, the Padma Bhushan in 2001 and the second-highest civilian honor, the Padma Vibhushan in 2015.

ICGS 'Varaha' commissioned by Defense Minister Rajnath Singh

Defense Minister Rajnath Singh commissioned the Coast Guard offshore patrol vessel "Varaha" at the Chennai port on September 25, 2019. Varaha is the fourth in the series of seven 98-meter offshore patrol vessels. The name "Varaha" refers to Lord Vishnu's third incarnation, in which he incarnated as a boar to rescue Goddess Earth from the ocean by lifting her on his tusks.

 

Pooja Desai from Vadodara Crowned Mrs. India - Pride of Nation 2019

Pooja Desai crowned as Mrs. India-Pride of National 2019 along with the subtitle of Mrs. India-Most Beautiful Hair. She was the only contestant from Vadodara and the first one from Gujarat to win this title. The grand finale, organized by Glamour Gurgaon, was held at The Leela Ambience, Gurgaon.

The competition was judged by celebrities like Padmini Kolhapur and Nayani Dixit among others.

 

Gandhi Solar Park Inaugurated by PM Modi at UN Headquarters

Prime Minister Narendra Modi along with other world leaders inaugurated the Gandhi Solar Park at the UN headquarters in New York on September 24, 2019. The 50 kilowatts Gandhi Solar Park was built at a cost of US $1 million.

It has 195 solar panels and each panel is powered to reach the max of 50 kWh of power generation, which will take the park's annual output to 86,244 KWh.

 

5th India International Science Festival to be held in Kolkata

The 5th edition of India International Science Festival (IISF) 2019 will be held at Kolkata from 5th to 8th November 2019. The Union Minister for Science & Technology, Earth Science and Health & Family Welfare, Dr. Harsh Vardhan announced this at the press conference in New Delhi.

The theme for this year's festival is RISEN India-Research, Innovation, and Science Empowering the Nation.

 

J & K Become First State to issue the highest number of a golden card under Ayushman Bharat Scheme

Jammu and Kashmir have become the first state in the country to issue the highest number of golden cards under Ayushman Bharat-Pradhan Mantri Jan Arogya Yojna ( AB-PMJAY). Over 11 lakh golden cards have been generated within the first 90days of the launch of the scheme with 60% of families having at least one golden card which is highest in the country.

 

25th Senior Women's National Football Championship

Defending champion Manipur clinched the title of the 25th Senior Women's National Football Championship for the 20th time. In the final at CHF Ground in Pasighat today, Manipur defeated Railway 1-0 in a thrilling contest.
