World Theatre Day: 27th March


World Theatre Day is celebrated annually on 27th March by the ITI (International Theatre Institute) centres and International theatre community.

It was initiated in 1961 by the International Theater Institute.

On this day several national and International theatre events are organized. Also, ITI selects an outstanding theatre personality to write the message for World Theatre Day.

This year is in 2019 , famous theatre director, playwright, academic and faculty member, Carlos CELDRAN from Cuba was selected as the speaker of World Theatre Day message 2019.


Malayalam writer and poet Ashita passed away


Renowned Malayalam writer and poet Ashita passed away at the age of 63 at a private hospital in Thrissur, Kerala after fighting a prolonged battle with cancer.

She was born on 5th April 1956, in Thrissur, Kerala.

She was the recipient of several awards including the Kerala Sahitya Akademi Award for her story collection Ashitayude Kathakali in 2015, the prestigious Padmarajan Award-Thathagatha (2000), Lalithambika Antharjanam Award (1994) and Edaserri Award (1986)


President Kovind receives Croatia's Highest Civilian Award


President Ram Nath Kovind has been awarded Croatia's Highest Civilian Award-the Grand Order of King Tomislav by the President of Croatia Kolinda Grabar-Kitarovic for his exceptional contribution to the advancement of overall relations and development of mutual cooperation between India and Croatia and for promoting friendship and partnership between the people of both the countries.

The civilian order is awarded to heads of state for their important contribution towards the development of state relations between Croatia and their respective countries.

Azali Assoumani re-elected as the President of Comoros


Azali Assoumani was re-elected as the President of Comoros after defeating his closest rival, Mohamodou Ahamada in the election, results published by the electoral commission of the Indian Ocean Archipelago.

Azali Assoumani who first took office in 2016, was credited with 60.77% votes whereas Mohamoudou Ahamada got only 14.62% votes.

BoB signed MoU with 6 firms to develop "Baroda Kisan"


Bank of Baroda has signed a memorandum of understanding (MoU) with six firms namely Skymet Weather Services, Weather Risk Management Services, BigHaat, Agrostar India, EM3 Agri Services and Poorti Agri Services to develop "Baroda Kisan".

It will provide solutions for all major agricultural requirements through its holistic approach.

ISRO launches Young Scientist Programme 'YUVIKA' for schoolkids


Indian Space Research Organisation (ISRO) has launched a special programme for schoolchildren called Young Scientist Programme or Yuva Vigyani Karyakram (YUVIKA), in tune with the government's vision "Jai Vigyan, Jai Anusandhan".

The Program aims at imparting basic knowledge on space technology, space science, and space applications to young school goers with the intent of arousing their interest in the emerging areas of space activities.

Apple has partnered with Goldman Sachs and Mastercard to issue Apple Card credit card for iPhones.

Apple card is a virtual credit card that can be integrated into the Wallet app of the iPhone.

The company has partnered with Goldman Sachs and Mastercard for payment handling and processing.
