Singapore Airport named world's best aviation hub, India's IGI at 59th

 

Singapore's Changi Airport named as the world's best aviation hub for the seventh time in a row, while Indira Gandhi International (IGI) Airport, New Delhi climbed 8 place to rank at 59th position, according to the Skytrax World Airport Awards.

Tokyo International Airport (Japan) ranked at the 2nd spot whereas Incheon International Airport (South Korea) ranked at the 3rd spot.

The list has been compiled by the UK-based Skytax, a consultancy firm which runs an airline and airport review and ranking site, featuring 100 airports.

 

Facebook launches tools to boost the Electoral Process

 

Facebook launched two new India-specific tools called "Candidate Connect" and "Share You Voted" to boost civic engagement on its platform during the general elections 2019.

"Candidate Connect" will help people learn more about candidates, the "Share You Voted" will provide people with polling information and enable them to announce and celebrate the fact that they have voted.

Both tools are available in 12 local language across India.

The moves will help to prevent fake news and to make sure that it doesn't impact the general election in India.

Adani Port becomes 1st Indian Port Operator to record 200 MMT Cargo Movement

 

Adani Ports and Special Economic Zone (APSEZ) has become the first Indian port operator to handle cargo movement of more than 200 million metric tonnes (MMT) at nine ports along the east and west coasts.

Adani Ports embarked its journey in 2001 and has recorded 100 MT cargo in 2013-14.

 

Kartik Sharma wins New South Wales men's Amateur Golf Championship

 

India's Kartik Sharma won the New South Men's Amateur Golf Championship in Australia by defeating Australia's Nathan Barberie in the scheduled 36-hole final to emerge as champion.

Indian Golfer, Kartik Sharma is playing for India since the age of 10 as part of the National Squad.

He had been selected to represent Indian Golfer Union for three events in Australia and had also won the Indian golf championship 2018.

WHO reappoints Dr Poonam Khetrapal Singh as South East Asia Regional Director

 

The World Health Organization reappointed Dr Poonam Khetrapal Singh as South East Asia Regional Director for a second five-year term.

She is the 1st woman to become Regional Director of WHO South-East Asia Region.
