Karnam Sekar takes over as new MD and CEO of IOB

 

Karnam Sekar has been appointed as the Managing Director (MD) and Chief Executive Officer (CEO) Indian Overseas Bank.

He succeeded R Subramiakumar.

Prior to this appointment, he was the MD & CEO of Dena Bank. Before that, he was Deputy MD Chief Credit Officer in State Bank of Indian, heading its Highest Credit Committee.

P.K. Purwar appointed as the CMD of BSNL

 

The Government of India has appointed MTNL CMD Pravin Kumar Purwar as the Chairman and Managing Director of Bharat Sanchar Nigam Ltd for a period of three months starting July 1.

He will replace Anupam Shrivastava as the CMD of BSNL.

 

N.S. Vishwanathan reappointed as deputy governor of RBI for one year

 

N.S. Vishwanathan has been reappointed as deputy governor of the Reserve Bank of India (RBI).

The appointment committee of the Cabinet has approved re-appointment of Vishwanathan for a period of one more year with effect from July 4 this year.

His tenure was to end 3 July.

Presently he is heading the Department of Banking Regulation of the Reserve Bank of India.

 

'Dastak' Campaign launched by UP to eradicate AES & JE

 

Uttar Pradesh Government has launched a campaign called 'Dastak' to eradicate deadly Acute Encephalitis Syndrome and Japanese Encephalitis disease.

The campaign is started by UP Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath. It will run from 1st to 31st July. 

Under it teams will go door to door in every village of the 75 districts of the state to create awareness about the communicable diseases as well as Acute Encephalitis Syndrome and Japanese Encephalitis disease.

 

Union Jal Shakti Minister launched a campaign 'Jal Shakti Abhiyan'

 

Union Jal Shakti Minister Shri Gajendra Shekhawat has a water conservation campaign 'Jal Shakti Abhiyan' to create awareness on the benefits of water conservation and declining sources of water in the country.

The campaign, focus will be on 256 water stressed districts and 1,592 water stressed blocks.

The campaign will run through citizen participation and it will be launched in two phases. The first phase is 1st July to 15th September and the second phase will be between 1st October to 30th November for States with retreating monsoon.

The campaign is centred on five aspects: water conservation and rainwater harvesting, renovation of traditional and other water bodies, reuse of water and recharging of structures, watershed development, and intensive afforestation.

The annual general meeting of Sports Journalists Federation of India (SJFI) 2019 was held in Ahmedabad, Gujarat.

It honors the sportspersons for their contribution to sport and for record-breaking reign in the National and international scene.

Dr. Krishna Saksena's book 'Whispers of Time' launched by Smriti Irani in New Delhi

 

Dr. Krishna Saksena has launched her book "Whispers of Time". at India International Centre in New Delhi.

The book is unveiled by Smriti Zubin Irani, Minister Textiles and Minister of Women and Child Development.

The book was published by Prabhat Prakashan.

 The book tells about the author experiences and observations in her long life of ninety years in which she found a great difference.

 

Aparna Kumar becomes the 1st civil servant & IPS Officer to conquer the 'Seven Summits' challenge

 

Indian Police Service Officer and DIG frontier in Indo-Tibetan Border Police (ITBP) Aparna Kumar scaled Mount Denali, the highest peak inn North America.

With this, she became the first civil servant to climb the rare mountain.

She got her success in her third attempt.

She also became the first woman IPS DIG and Indo-Tibetan Border Police (ITBP) officer to successfully complete the South Pole expedition.

She is 2002 batch IPS officer from UP cadre is currently posted as DIG, ITBP Northern Frontier at Dehradun.

This was her 7th summit in her '7 Summits' challenge.

 

Odisha to host the 21st Commonwealth Table Tennis Championship 2019

 

Odisha government signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) with Table Tennis Federation of India (TTFI) and Odisha Table Tennis Association (OSTTA) to host the 21st Commonwealth Championship for the year 2019.

The Championship will be held at the Jawaharlal Indoor Stadium in Cuttack, Odisha from July 17-22, 2019.

 

ISA's 1st Joint Security Exercised named 'ISALEX19' held in Abu Dhabi

 

The International Security Alliance's first Joint Exercise named 'ISALEX19' started in Abu Dhabi.

The exercise is hosted by the United Area Emirates (UAE) Ministry of Interior (MoI).

Representatives of 50 law enforcement agencies of the ISA are taking part in the 1st joint security exercise in Abu Dhabi.

ISA now comprises of nine countries, the United Arab Emirates, Bahrain, Morocco, France, Italy, Spain, Senegal, Singapore, and the Slovak Republic.
