General Bipin Rawat named as country's 1st Chief of Defence Staff
Indian Army General Bipin Rawat has been named as the country's first Chief of Defence Staff (CDS).
The Department of Military Affairs (DMA) is the 5th department in the Ministry of Defence (MoD) and was created after a change in Government of India (Allocation of Business), Rules 1961.
The Defence Ministry had also amended the army, air force and navy rules by bringing in a new clause that allows the CDS to serve upto a maximum age of 65 years.
Indore tops national cleanliness ranking for first two quarters
Union Minister for Housing and Urban Affairs, Hardeep Singh Puri announced the results of the 1st and 2nd quarters of the Swachh Survekshan League 2020, for first and second Quarters in New Delhi.

Pragati Maidan Metro Station renamed as Supreme Court Metro Staion
The Delhi Government has announced the renaming of Pragati Maidan metro station as the Supreme Court Metro Station.
The committee has also decided to Mukarba Chowk on Delhi's Outer Ring Road and its flyover after Kargil war martyr Captain Vikram Batra, MB Road as Acharya Sri Mahapragya Marg and the Lajpat Nagar flyover to Jhuleal Setu.
Bengaluru will host the 107th edition of the Indian Science Congress
Prime Minister has inaugurated the 107th edition of the Indian Science Congress at the University of Agricultural Sciences (UAS), in Bengaluru.
The theme of Indian Science Congress for the year 2020 was "Science and Technology: Rural Development".
A Farmer's Science Congress will take part in it for the first time, hence providing a platform for innovative farmers.

Piyuus Jaiswal was awarded the Global Bihar Excellence Award 2019. The award was presented by Padma Shri awardee Dr. CP Thakur and Dilmani Davi (President of Bihar Women Commission).

ISRO will set up launch port for small satellite launch vehicles
ISRO (Indian Space Research Organization) will establish a 2nd launch port in Thoothukodi district in Tamil Nadu exclusively to launch small satellite launch vehicles.
ISRO Chairman K Sivan said that this space center will be established in 2300 acres. He announced that the process of Astronaut selection is over for India's 1st manned to outer space i.e. "Gaganyaan" to be launched by 2022.
Nepal launches 'Visit Nepal Year 2020' campaign
President of Nepal Bidya Devi Bhandari launched the "Visit Nepal Year 2020" during the ceremony held at historic Dasaratha Rangashala in Kathmandu.

RBI launches 'MANI' app to assist visually challenged to identify currency notes
Governor of the Reserve Bank of India Shri Shaktikanta Das has launched a mobile app "Mobile Aided Note Identifier (MANI)".
The RBI mobile app will enable the visually disabled to identify the denomination of a currency note by using the mobile app "MANI". The MANI app will work offline as well after it is installed.

Nagaland Assembly Speaker and Nationalist Democratic Progressive Party (NDPP) leader Vikho-o Yhoshu passes away.
Yhoshu was elected to the state Assembly thrice from Southern Angami-1 constituency in Kohima district.
He served as an advisor and parliamentary secretary of various departments and had also won a seat as a candidate of the Naga People's Front (NPF) in 2008 and 2013
