Manoj Kumar Nambiar elected as chairman of MFIN

 

Manoj Kumar, managing director of Arohan Financial Services has been elected as new Chairman of MicroFinance Institutions Network (MFIN).

He was elected at the 10th Annual General Meeting of MFIN in New Delhi.

He will replace Ujjivan Financial Services CEO and MD Samit Ghosh.

MFIN is an industry association comprising 56 NBFC-MFIs (Non-Banking Financial Company-Micro Finance Institutions) and 40 associates including banks, small finance banks, and NBFCs.

Economist David Lipton appointed as IMF interim leader

 

International Monetary Fund (IMF) appointed American economist David Lipton as its interim leader.

He replaces Christine Lagarde who was nominated to head the European Central Bank.

Prior to the appointment, Lipton was Special Assistant to the President and served as Senior Director for International Economic Affairs at the National Economic Council and National Security Council at the White House.

AK Misra appointed as an additional director on Board of Directors of J&K by RBI

 

The Reserve Bank of India has appointed AK Misra as an additional director on Board of Directors (BOD) of Jammu and Kashmir Bank for a period of two years up to July 2, 2021, or till further orders.

He was the former executive director of RBI.

ICICI Bank tied up with IndoStar Capital for commercial vehicle financing

 

Industrial Credit and Investment Corporation of India (ICICI) Bank has tied up with non-banking financial company IndoStar Capital for vehicle financing for small and medium fleet owners to buy new and old commercial vehicles.

Under this partnership, IndoStar will provide the service to the customers through the entire loan life-cycle including sourcing, documentation, collection and loan servicing.

Operation Khumaar launched in J&K to make 312 panchayats free from tobacco

 

An Anti-Drug Campaign called 'Operation Khumaar has been launched in a district administration Rajouri, Jammu and Kashmir to make 312 panchayats tobacco-free.

The programme is run by the district administration to make panchayats free from tobacco-based products.

Maharastra ranks first in NITI Aayog's AMFFR Index

 

Maharastra achieved first rank in NITI Aayog launched "Agricultural Marketing and Famer Friendly Reforms Index (AMFFRI).

Gujarat ranked second with a score of 71.50 out of 100, closely followed by Rajasthan and Madhya Pradesh.

The index ranks states based on the degree of reforms they have undertaken in agricultural marketing. MFFRI has a score that can have minimum value "0" implying no reforms and maximum value "100" implying complete reforms in the selected areas.

Hima bags gold in Poznan Athletics Grand Prix

 

Hima Ds has won the gold medal in women's 200m in the Poznan Athletics Grand Prix.

Poznan Athletics Grand Prix is held in Poznan, Poland.

Assam girl Hima defeated her opponents with a record of running the 200m track in just 23.65s.

Another Indian player shot putter Tajinder Pal Singh Toor has been able to win bronze in the competition.

 

Ambati Rayudu retires from international cricket

 

Indian batsman Ambati Rayudu has announced his retirement from international cricket.

The 33-year-old Rayudu played 55 ODIs and scored 1,694 runs with three centuries and fifties at 47.05. He also played six T20s, scoring 42 runs.

 

IMF approves $6 billion loan for cash-strapped Pakistan

 

International Monetary Fund (IMF) approved a $6 billion loan over a period of three years for cash-strapped Pakistan.

The approved loan aims to return sustainable growth to the country's fragile economy and improve the standards of living.

First 'Aadhaar Seva Kendra' open in Delhi and Vijayawada

 

Unique Identification Authority of India has opened its first 'Aadhaar Seva Kendra' in Delhi and Vijayawada.

The UIDAI has an ambitious plan to set up 114 such centres by the end of 2019.

These centres will provide the facility to apply for a new Aadhaar card or update the existing one and other activities.

The Aadhaar Seva Kendras were announced by the UIDAI CEO Ajay Bhushan Pandey in October 2018.
