India & Norway signed 4 MoU in field of research, higher education

 

India & Norway has signed four memorandum of understandings (MoUs) in field of research, higher education to strengthen their bilateral partnership.

The agreements were led by Anni Line Wold, Norway Director- General Norwegian Ministry of Education &Research and witnessed by Hans Jacob Frydenlund Norwegian Ambassador to India at New Delhi.

 

AP Govt made history with 'Intivadhakey Pension' scheme by covering 94%

 

Andhra Pradesh Government, Yeduguri Sandinti Jaganmohan Reddy has created a record with 'Intivadhakey Pension' (Pension to your Doorstep) scheme by covering 94% of about 60 lakh pensioners at their doorstep.

The scheme was launched in 13 districts.

AP is the 1st state in India to take up such an initiative of Door delivery of pension service.

 

Bhutan ends free entry for Indian tourists.

 

Government of Bhutan has decided to levy a daily Rs 1200($17) fee for regional tourists from India, Maldives, and Bangladesh with effect from July 2020.

The fee is named as Sustainable Development Fees (SDF) in order to regulate a new tourism policy.

Children under the age of 5 will not have to pay the tax and between 6 to 12 years will be required to pay Rs 600.

 

Reliance general insurance launches health insurance plan "Infinity"

 

Reliance General Insurance Company Limited has launched a comprehensive health insurance plan called "Reliance Health Infinity".

The policy offers 90 days and post-hospitalization expenses for a period of 180 days will also be covered, along with sum insured ranging from Rs 3 lakh to Rs 1 crore, and free restore benefits.

 

Former Karnataka Minister D. Manjunath passed away at 92

 

Former Karnataka Minister D. Manjunath passed away in Karnataka, Bengaluru due to age-related ailments.

He was born on 26th August 1928 at Jajoor Village, Challakere Taluk, Karnataka and joined the Janata party in 1977.

He was the chairman of the Karnataka Legislative Council in 1987 & also minister in various governments.

 

Former Assam speaker and sitting MLA Pranab Kumar passed away at 84

 

Former Assam Legislative Assembly Speaker and sitting Congress MLA (Member of the Legislative Assembly Speaker)  Pranab Kumar Gogoi passed away.

In 2015, Pranab Kumar took the definition of the term 'Assamese'.

He was first elected as Legislative from the Assam Legislative Assembly from Sivasagar, Assam for 4 consecutive terms.

 

Fitch forecasts India's GDP growth at 5.6% for FY2021

 

Fitch Ratings has estimated India's GDP growth to 5.6% in the next Financial Year 2021 in its India's Economic Growth Outlook.

This forecast is lower than the projection made by the government's Economic Survey.

For the current fiscal 2019-20 (FY 20), GDP is projected at 4.6%.

Fitch has also estimated that in the fiscal year 2022, government debt will remain 70% of total GDP.

 

Bank credit up by 7.21%, deposits up by 9.51% RBI

 

According to the latest Reserve Bank of India data, bank credit and deposit grew 7.21% and 9.51% to Rs 100.05 lakh crore and Rs 131.26 trillion.

The banks advance was Rs 93.32 trillion in the same period a year ago, while deposits at Rs 119.85 trillion.

Non-food credit growth decelerated to 7% in December 2019, compared to 12.8% in December 2018.
