Oil Marketing Companies (OMC) have released more than 6.23 crore LPG connections to BPL (below poverty line0 household, under the Pradhan Mantri Ujjwala Yojana (PMUY) across the country.
The objective of PMUY is to make available free and cleaner fuel in poor household kitchens.
The key condition of the scheme is that no LPG connection should exist in the name of any family member of BPL household. LPG connection to be released on the name of an adult woman family.
Under the scheme, the government provides a subsidy of Rs 1,600 to state-owned fuel retailer for every free LPG gas connection that they give to poor households.
Air India chief Pradeep Singh Kharola has been appointed as the new civil aviation secretary.
Kharola is a 1985 batch IAS officer of the Karnataka cadre.
He succeeded Rajiv Nayan Chaubey, who retired on January 31 January 2019 and took over as a member in the Union Public Service Commission (UPSC).
