Government projected 7.5% GDP growth in FY20

 

Finance Ministry expects the GDP growth to 7.5% in 2019-20 from 7.2% projected for the current fiscal.

The government is expecting a nominal growth of 11.5% for 2019-20 and 4% inflation.

The annual average GDP growth during the last five years is higher than the growth achieved by any government since economic reforms began in 1991.

 

India signed MoU with Republic of Poland for coal mining and clean coal technology

 

Ministry of Coal of India signed MoU with Ministry of Energy, Republic of Poland.

The objective of this MoU is to foster relations in the field of coal mining and clean coal technologies.

The MoU has been signed between Sh. Haribhai Parathibhai Chaudhary, Minister of State for Coal and Mines and Mr. Grzegorz Tobiszowski, Secretary of State, Minister of Energy, Republic of Poland.

 

Ministry of Housing and Urban Poverty Alleviation launched Shehri Samridhi Utsav

 

Shehri Samridhi Utsav, an initiative of the Ministry of Housing & Urban Affairs (MoHUA) is launched in New Delhi.

The objective is to extend the reach of Deendayal Antyodaya Mission-National Urban Livelihoods Mission (DAY-NULM).

It is the National Exhibition cum sale of Self Help Group products and the National Street Food festival.

The event will provide access to Self Help Group members to the other government schemes.

 

Words Count Festival 2019 held in Pune

 

The second edition of Word Count Festival 2019 held in Pune, Maharashtra, with an objective to bring together speakers from several socio-political spheres and share their insights on various issues.

The day-long Festival is hosted by Advita Kala, prominent author, and columnist.

Pavan Kumar Verma, a career diplomat, and famous writer was honored with first Word Smith Award 2019 for his contribution in Indian Literature.

 

Govt releases 6.23 crore LPG Connections under PMUY

 

Oil Marketing Companies (OMC) have released more than 6.23 crore LPG connections to BPL (below poverty line0 household, under the Pradhan Mantri Ujjwala Yojana (PMUY) across the country.

The objective of PMUY is to make available free and cleaner fuel in poor household kitchens.

The key condition of the scheme is that no LPG connection should exist in the name of any family member of BPL household. LPG connection to be released on the name of an adult woman family.

Under the scheme, the government provides a subsidy of Rs 1,600 to state-owned fuel retailer for every free LPG gas connection that they give to poor households.

 

Air India CMD Pradeep Singh Kharola appointed as Civil Aviation Secretary

 

Air India chief Pradeep Singh Kharola has been appointed as the new civil aviation secretary.

Kharola is a 1985 batch IAS officer of the Karnataka cadre.

He succeeded Rajiv Nayan Chaubey, who retired on January 31 January 2019 and took over as a member in the Union Public Service Commission (UPSC).
