Sheikh Salman elected as President of Asian Football Confederation

 

Sheikh Salman bin Ebrahim Al Khalifa re-elected as the president of Asian Football Confederation after the regional body's congress confirmed a new four-year term for the Bahraini by acclamation.

Shaikh Salman will extend his term as president until at least 2023.

Keshav Murugesh appointed as Chairman of NASSCOM

 

IT industry body, NASSCOM (National Association of Software and services companies) has appointed Keshav Murugesh, CEO of WNS Global Services Group as its Chairman for 2019-20.

He was currently on the positioned as Vice Chairman of NASSCOM, succeeding Rishad Premji.

NASSCOM also appointed Infosys COO UB Pravin Rao as its Vice Chairman for 2019-20.

Vikram Kirloskar appointed as President of CII

 

Vikram Kirloskar has been appointed as the president of Confederation of Indian Industry (CII) for the period 2019-20.

Kirloskar is also Chairman and Managing Director of Kirloskar System Ltd. and Vice Chairman of Toyota Kirloskar Motor.

He succeeded Rakesh Bharti Mittal who is Vice Chairman of Bharti Enterprises.

He has been associated with CII for three decades.

David R. Malpass elected as President of World Bank

 

David R. Malpass has been appointed as the President of the World Bank for a five-year term.

The Executive Director of the World Bank unanimously selected David R. Malpass as President of the World Bank.

He will succeed Jim Yong-Kim.

Mr. Malpass previously served as Under Secretary of the Treasury for International Affairs for the United States.

Morocco-US joint Exercise AFRICAN LION 2019 started in Morocco

 

The joint military exercise between Morocco and the US, "African Lion 2019", took place in Morocco.

It was jointly organized by the United States Command for Africa (AFRICOM) and Moroccan Royal Armed Forces (FAR).

The 15th Annual African Lion convenes Moroccan-US partners from 15 countries representing Africa, North America, and Europe.

NTPC signs term loan of Rs 2000 crore with Canara Bank

 

National Thermal Power Corporation (NTPC) has signed a term loan agreement with Canara Bank to raise Rs 2,000 crore, which would be used to part finance its capital expenditure.

The loan has a door to door tenure of 15 years and will be utilized to part finance the capital expenditure of the NTPC.

In February 2019, NTPC had also signed a loan agreement for Rs 5,000 crore with SBI, The loan facility from SBI was also aimed at part financing the company's capital expenditure.

Graham Reid appointed as Chief Coach of India Men's Hockey Team

 

Hockey India has appointed Australian Graham Reid as the new chief coach of the Indian men's hockey team.
