2019 Asia LPG Summit organized in New Delhi

 

♦ The 2nd edition of the '2019 Asia LPG Summit inaugurated by Mr. Dharmendra Pradhan, Union Minister for petroleum and natural gas in New Delhi

♦ The summit has been organized jointly by the major Indian oil marketing companies (OMCs) Indian Oil, Hindustan Petroleum and Bharat Petroleum together with the World LPG Association (WLPGA) at the Taj Palace Hotel in New Delhi

♦ This two-day event will focus on 'LPG-Energy for Life'.

♦ India is the second largest consumer of LPG in the world.

 

India and Germany Join hands-on Water and Waste Management

 

♦ India and Germany have joined hands for cooperation on Water and Waste Management.

♦ During the meeting of 3rd Indo-German Working Group for cooperation on which concluded in New Delhi.

♦ Both sides decided to work on developing reference documents for the textile sector, Water Governance, Marine Litter waste to energy landfill sites, water quality management, training, and capacity building of local bodies and Circular Economy.

 

India's Smriti Mandhana scores Fastest-ever T20I Fifty

 

♦ India's opening batsman Smiriti Mandhana smashed the fastest fifty for India in Women's T20Is.

♦ She struck a half-century in just 24 balls in the 1st T20I against New Zealand at Westpac Stadium in Wellington.

♦ Smriti Mandhana lies in the 6th position in the list of fastest fifties. New Zealand's Sophie Devine holds the record of the quickest half-century in women's T20Is. She sets the record in 2005 against India when she struck fifty in 18 balls.

 

SBI  UK Chief conferred with "Freedom of the City of London

 

♦ The State Bank of India's UK Chief Shri Sanjiv Chadha has been honoured with the 'Freedom of the City of London'.

♦ The award is given by the city of London Corporation in recognition of his contribution to promoting bilateral relations.

♦ Sanjiv Chadha took up the position in 2014 and he will be succeeded by Sharad Chandak.

♦ Pt. Jawaharlal Nehru was the previous Indian recipient of this award and other recipient includes author JK Rowling and actor Dame Judi  Dench.

 

Swachh Bharat Mission launched 'Darwaza Band- Part 2' Campaign

 

♦ Swachh Bharat Mission Grameen launched 'Darwaza Band-Part 2' Campaign

♦ It focuses on sustaining the open defecation free status of villages across the country.

♦ The campaign launched by the Ministry of Drinking Water and Sanitation in Mumbai in the presence of actor Amitabh Bachchan.

♦ The 'Darwaza Band-Part 2' has been supported by the World Bank.

 

Bermuda becomes the first Country in the World to Abolish same-sex Marriage

 

♦ Bermuda has become the first country in the world to legalise and then repeal same-sex marriage.

♦ The legislation was signed into law by Bermuda's governor John Rankin.

Chennai Police launched a mobile app 'Digicop'

 

♦ Chennai Police Commissioner A.K. Viswanathan launched the mobile app "DigiCop" of the city police department in Chennai.

♦ The details of 18000 stolen mobile phone are stored in the App.

♦ Using this app user can track the status of stolen two-wheelers and cell phones.

♦ Using this app user can lodge mobile theft complaints and also check if the user's mobile is in the police list of retrieved mobiles.

♦ Using this app, people can verify IMEI, report lost two-wheelers and phones, know the nearest police station, police news, and traffic alerts.
