Shri Ram Janambhoomi Tirtha Kshetra Trust' for Ayodhya temple

 

Prime Ministry Narendra Modi announced setting up a trust to oversee the construction of a Ram Temple in Ayodhya, Uttar Pradesh.

The Uttar Pradesh government has agreed to give 67.703 acres of land to the Sunni Wakf Board as directed by the Supreme Court in Ayodhya matter.

This 15 member's trust will also include a Dalit representative who would be in-charge of the entire land

 

Astronaut Christina Koch returns to Earth after record stay in space

 

National Aeronautics and Space Administration (NASA)'s astronaut Christina Koch from United States (US) has returned to Earth after her record stay in space.

Koch has spent 328 days in space, she has surpassed Peggy Whitson's record for an American woman on a single spaceflight at 289 days.

Koch has landed in Kazakhstan after making a record of the longest stay on the International Space Station (ISS).

She has set the record for the longest stay in space by a woman.

 

UNESCO certificate for Jaipur 'Pink City'

 

Jaipur "The Pink City" has been certified by UNESCO (United Nations Education Scientific and Cultural Organisation) as the World Heritage site.

The certification was done by the UNESCO Director-General  Audrey Azoulay during an event held in Jaipur, Rajasthan.

UNESCO declared the Walled City of Jaipur as the world heritage site in July 2019.

The city is famous for its grid plan-based architecture and buildings constructed with the pink facade.

As part of certification, the World Heritage City certificate was handover by UNESCO Director General to Minister of Urban Development Shanti Dhariwal.

 

MP govt to use 'Drones' for mapping villages

 

The state government of Madhya Pradesh has decided to use drones for mapping villages.

The state revenue department of Madhya Pradesh has entered into an agreement with the Survey of India, under the Ministry of Science and Technology.

Drones will be used for the mapping of 55 thousand villages of the state on a scale of 1: 500, which will give a clearer picture of the population area.

 

World Bank chief economist Pinelopi Koujianou Goldberg resigns

 

World Bank chief economist Pinelopi Koujianou Goldberg announced her resignation.

She will step down from her post on March 1, 2020, and will be teaching at Yale University in Connecticut, US.

World Bank research director Aart Kraay will be the interim WB chief economist until the appointment of a new permanent chief economist.

Pinelopi took over as the chief economist of WB succeeding Paul Romer at the end of April 2018.

 

IOC signs 1st ever term contract for Russian Crude Oil

 

Indian Oil Corp (IOC) and Russian Rosneft signed 1st ever term contract for importing 2 Million Metric Tonnes of Urals grade crude oil to India for the year 2020.

India is the 3rd largest Energy Consumer in the world, India imports globally 83% of oil to meet its oil need.

India has to enlarge its sources for oil imports away from the Middle East oil-producing countries.

 

Britain's Prince unveils children's protection fund for India

 

Britain's Prince Charles has unveiled a new children's protection fund for India as part of British Asian Trust.

Britain's Prince Charles has been announced Katheryn Elizabeth Hudson (Katy Perry), American singer as the new ambassador for the British Asian Trust Children's Protection Fund

The charity founded by him in 2007 to fight poverty in South Asia.

 

India ranked 2nd largest producer of Crude Steel

 

World Steel Association data, India became the second-largest producer of crude steel after China.

India's crude steel production in 2019 was at 111.2 MT, an increase of 1.7% from 109.3 million tonnes in 2018.

China remains number one with 996.3 million tonnes in 2019.

Japan ranks third globally with 104.3 million tonnes of crude steel production in 2018 and 99.3 million tonnes in 2019.

 

Hollywood veteran actor Kirk Douglas passes away in US

 

Hollywood legend and veteran actor, Kirk Douglas passed away in Beverly Hills, California in the US.

The actor came to limelight in the 1940's and played various roles in nearly 100 movies in his 60-year career.
