Arinjeeta Dey a 10-year old Karate Girl wins silver medal in World Youth Cup 2019

 

Arinjeeta Dey, a 10-year old girl, has won a silver medal in the World Youth Cup held in Umag Croatia. It was organized by World Karate Federation affiliated to the International Olympic Association.

She had won 3 times in national championship junior level category (2017 KAL SUB Junior National gold medalist, 2018 KAL SUB Junior National gold medalist, 2019 KAL SUB Junior National Gold and Silver Medalist).

Yes Bank acquires 9.47% stake in Eveready Industries by invoking pledged shares

 

Private sector lender Yes Bank has acquired a 9.47% stake in dry cell battery maker, Eveready Industries India by invoking shares pledged by McLeod Russel.

The Bank acquired 6880149 equity shares having a nominal value of Rs 5 per share constituting 9.47% of the post-issue paid-up share capital.

The B M Khaitan group is the owner of Eveready and McLeod Russel. Khaitan holds 42.93% in  Eveready & McLeod Russel held 2.29%.

Pink City Jaipur declared as World Heritage site by UNESCO

 

The walled city of Jaipur, Know for its iconic architectural legacy and vibrant culture, has made its entry into the UNESCO World Heritage Site list.

The decision was taken at the 43rd Session of the UNESCO World Heritage Committee (WHC) in the historic city of Baku, Azerbaijan, from June 30 to July 10.

In addition to Jaipur, the Committe examined 36 nominations for inscription on UNESCO's World Heritage List during the session.

 

3rd edition of International sunflower seed and Oil Conference (ISSOC) 2019 to be held in Mumbai

 

India will be hosting the 3rd edition of International Sunflower Seed and Oil Conference (ISSOC) 2019 in  Maharashtra, Mumbai From July 19-20, 2019.

The event will be hosted by the Solvent Extractors, Association of India (SEA) & Organized by International Sunflower Oil Association (ISOA).

India is the largest importer of sunflower oil with imports of about 2.8 million tones and globally the import is about 9.6 million tonnes.

The 1st edition was held in 2015 at Shanghai, China and the 2nd edition was held in 2017 at Odessa, Ukraine.

 

Vice President released book titled Vivekadeepini

 

Vice President of India, M. Venkaiah Naidu has released the book 'Vivekadeepini' in ten languages.

It is a concise book of aphorisms nitially written by Adi Shankaracharya.

The book will be published by Vedanta Bharati.

 

BSF launched Operation 'Sudarshan' along the Pakistan border

 

Border Security Force (BSF) has launched the operation 'Sudarshan' to fortify the Anti-Infiltration Grid' along the Pakistan border in Punjab and Jammu.

The operation was launched on July 1 and It will cover entire over 1,000-kms length of the India- Pakistan International Border.

It is the primary force guarding this frontier as the 'first line of defence'.

 

U.S. wins FIFA Women's World Cup 2019

 

United States women's national soccer team (USWNT) won the FIFA Women's World Cup 2019 held in Lyon, France. The team defeated the Netherlands with a scrore of 2-0.

This is the 4th World Cup title for the US's women football team and This win is a record-extending fouth time for the U.S. women's national soccer team.

 

Rohit Sharma records maximum hundreds in the singe World Cup

 

Rohit Sharma has set a world record of maximum hundreds in the single World Cup.

He became the first batsman in the world to score five hundreds in a single World Cup and break the record of Former Sri Lankan Skipper Kumar Sangakarra.

He was equaled to Sachin Tendulkar's record of the total number of World Cup hundreds.

 

21st Commonwealth Table Tennis C'ship to be hosted in Odisha

Odisha Governor inaugurated the 21st edition of Commonwealth Table Tennis Championship at the Jawaharlal Indoor Stadium in Cuttack, Odisha from July 17 to 22.

The tournament has received a good entry with 14 associations, consisting India, Malaysia, Bangladesh, Sri Lanka, Singapore, Scotland , England, Jersey, Australia, Cyprus, Wales, Nigeria, Pakistan, South Africa.

Department of Sport and Youth Services (DSYS), the government of Odisha signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) with Table Tennis Federation of India (TTFI) and Odisha State Table Tennis Association (OSTTA) to host the event.

 

Hiam Das won gold medal at 2019 Kutno Athletics Meet in Poland

 

Indian sprinter Hima Das from Assam won her second international gold in women's 200m race at Kutno Athletics Meet in Poland.

Hima Das clocked 23.97 seconds to clinch gold Kutno Athletics.

V.K. Vismaya bagged silver with a time of 24.06 seconds.

 

Muhammed Anas won gold medal at 2019 Kutno Athletics Meet in Poland

 

National record holder Muhammed Anas won the gold in men's 200m race at Kutno Athletics Meet in Poland on Sunday.

Anas clocked 21.18 seconds to clinch gold at Kutno Athletics while Noah Nirmal tom took the silver in 21.66 seconds.

MP Jabir won the gold in men's 400m hurdles in 50.21 seconds while jithin Paul won bronze with 52.26.

 

Uttarakhand named among best performing states in 'Beti Bachao, Beti Padhao' scheme

 

Uttarakhand is one of the country's five best performing states under the National Programme Beti Bachao Beti Padhao (BBBP) scheme aimed at addressing  declining child sex ratio and issues of women empowerment.

In addition to Uttarakhand, Haryana has bagged three awards, including one state-level and two district-level awards, for consistent performance in respect of the sex ratio at birth (SRB).

 

Sri Lanka inaugurated its first model village built with Indian assistance at Ranidugama in Gampaha

 

The first model village built with Indian assistance as part of a housing project meant for war-affected people and estate workers inaugurated in Sri Lanka.

India entered into a partnership with the Ministry of Housing and Construction and Cultural Affairs of Sri Lanka to build 100 model village consisting of a total of 2400 houses all across Sri Lanka

The Indian grant of Rs 1,200 million ($17.5 million).

These 2,400 houses are in addition to the 60,000 accommodations built under the Indian Housing Project.
