World's largest burn and plastic surgery institute named Sheikh Hasina National Burn and Plastic Surgery Institute inaugurated in Dhaka, Bangladesh

The Outpatient Department (OPD) inaugurated by the Health and Family Welfare Minister of Bangladesh ahid Maleque.

It was built at a cost of over 500 crores Taka.

The health ministry decided to name the intstitute after Hasina in recognition of her devotion to the development of the burn and plastic surgery healthcare system.

 

Canada Open Badminton: Li Shi Feng won the men's single title

 

Li shi Feng has won the men's singles title of Canada Open Badminton 2019, held in Markin-Macphail Centre, Canada

Feng had defeated India's Parupalli Kashyap in the title clash of the Canada Open.

This tournament is organized by Badminton Alberta and sanctioned by the BWF and Badminton Canada.

 

Brazil wins the Copa America 2019 title

 

Brazil defeated peru 3-1 to win its first Copa America on home soil despite Gabriel Jesus's dismissal.

Gabriel Jesus scored the decisive goal after a penalty form peru captain Paolo Guerrero canceled out Everton's opener for host Brazil at Rio. de Janeiro's Maracana Stadium.

A last-minute penalty from substitute Richarlison sealed a win for Brazil which handed the South American giants their ninth Copa triumph and first since 2007.

 

World Youth Cup: Arinjeeta Dey wins silvers medal

 

Arinjeeta Dey, a 10-year-old girl, has won a silver medal in the under 12 age category in the World Youth Cup 2019 held in Umag, Croatia.

The tournament was organised by World Karate Federation affiliated to the International Olympic Association.

She has won 3 times in national championship junior level category.

Rahul Dravid appointed as Head of Cricket at NCA by BCCI

 

Board of Control for Cricket of India (BCCI) has appointed former India cricket Rahul Dravid as the Head of Cricket at the National Cricket Academy (NCA) in  Bengaluru.

Dravid will oversee all cricket related activities at NCA and will be involved in mentoring, coaching, training and motivating players, coaches and support staff at the NCA.

 

Linkedin chooses Ashutosh Gupta as country manager for India

 

Linkedin appointed Ashutosh Gupta as its new country manager for India effective September 2, 2019.He will replace Mahesh Narayanan who was the country manager for India from January to June 2019.

Gupta joined Linkedln as the head of Marketing Solutions (LMS0 business in India, and in 2016 he moved to Singapore to build LMS' Online Sales Organisation (OSO) for the Asia Pacific (APAC) and China.

He will report to Olivier Legrand, Linkedin's Managing Director (MD) for the APAC and he will continue to lead the LMS's OSO.

RBI board finalise 'Utkarsh 2022'

 

India's central bank, Reserve Bank of India board has finalised a three-year roadmap 'Utkarsh 2022'.

It is a three-year road map for medium term objectives to be achieved for improving regulation and supervision of the central bank.

The boark also approved the RBI's budget for the July 2019 - June 2020 period in a meeting in New Delhi

 

Kyriakos Mitsotakis becomes Greece's new PM

 

Kyriakos Mitsotakis of New Democratic Party was sworn-in as the new Prime Minister of Greece. He is the son of former prime minister Constantine Mitsotakis, one of the country's longest serving parliamentarians.

Mitsotakis received 39.85% of the votes against 31.53% for Syriza, led by outgoing Prime Minister Alexis Tsipras.

NHAI and NIIF sign MoU for funding highway projects

 

National Highways Authority of India (NHAI) signed an MoU with National Investment and Infrastructure Fund (NIIF) to fund large scale projects, including highways in a bid to achieve Prime Minister's vision to make India a $5-trillion economy in the next five years.

The MoU is related to co-operation in formation of SPVs (special purpose vehicles) to execute the fund arrangement for large size road projects particularly green field projects to be executed by NHAI in future.

ISRO sign contract with Glavkosmos

 

Indian Space Agency, Indian Space Research Organisation (ISRO), has signed a contract with Russia's Glavkosmos for selection support, medical examination and space training  of Indian astronauts.

ISRO has planned to send two unmanned missions before the mission 'Gaganyaan-1'.

Gaganyaan, Rs 9,023-crore project, will be launched in Decemer 2021 including a woman astronaut.

IOC removed Kuwait suspension and allows participating in 2020 Olympics

International Olympic Committee (IOC) removed the ban on the Kuwait Olympic Committee (KOC) and permitted to compete in the 2020 Olympics.

Kuwait was suspended in October 2015 following "undue government interference with the basic principles that govern the Olympic Movement".

KOC had successfully implemented "a roadmap agreed between all parties "and it participated in the 2020 Olympics.

Haryana govt. launched 'Meri Fasal Mere Byora' portal for farmers

The government of Haryana has launched online portal named "Meri Fasal Mera Byora" for farmers in availing benefits of state government schemes after self-reporting their land and crop-related details.

It will enable farmers to avail the subsidy on agriculture implement easily & make damage assessment during natural calamities and disbursal of relief in cases of crop damage easier and other financial assistance under different schemes.
