IBPS RRB Clerk Preliminary Syllabus

IBPS RRB Preliminary Syllabus is divided into two sections Reasoning Ability and Quantitative Aptitude. The syllabus of RRB PO and RRB Clerk is same. Only the difficulty level of Questions is varied. RRB Officer Scale Exam is a little bit difficult than RRB Office Assistance.

Reasoning

In Reasoning Section 40 Questions for 40 marks will be asked in IBPS RRB Clerk Preliminary Examination. Topics to be covered under this section are:

Puzzles and Seating Arrangement

     15-20 Questions can be asked on this topic. This is one of the most important topics in Reasoning Section for any Banking Exam. This topic is time-consuming but in this topic, high accuracy is possible and also most scoring topic if you have practiced well on this topic with a clear concept. Types of Puzzle- Month based, Day based, Box based Comparison based, floor-based, Distribution based etc. Types of Seating Arrangement- Circular based, Liner based, Rectangle based, Noth- South facing etc.

    3-5 Questions can be asked from this topic. It can be based on a New Pattern or Old Pattern. This topic is less time consuming and high accuracy is possible. Types of New Pattern Syllogism- Possibility based and Negative Information based. Types of Old Pattern Syllogism- Direct questions with 2-3 statements and 2-3 conclusions.

Blood Relation

   3-4 Questions can be asked from this topic. Questions can be based on coded blood relation, single person blood relation or mixed blood relation.

Coding Decoding

    3-5 Questions can be asked based on new pattern or old pattern. This topic is less time consuming and high accuracy is possible and also one of the most scoring topics. Types of New Pattern coding-decoding- word coding, sentence coding. Types of Old Pattern coding-decoding- Chines coding.

Inequality

5 questions can be asked based on new pattern or old pattern. This topic is also less time consuming and high accuracy is possible and also one of the most scoring topics. Questions can be based on indirect symbol or code, multiple relations or direct inequality based.

Input-Output

5 Questions can be asked form this topic. This topic may be time-consuming but high accuracy is possible If you have practiced well on this topic.

Order and Ranking

You can expect 2-3 Questions from this topic.

Direction and Distance

You can expect 2-3 Questions from this topic.

Alphanumeric Series

Quadratic Equation

5 Questions will be asked from this topic. This topic is less time consuming and high accuracy is possible and also one of the most scoring topics. In this, you have to solve the given variable to know the relation between other given variables. 

Data Interpretation

10-15 Questions can be asked from this topic. This is moderate topics and moderate time consuming but high accuracy is possible and also one of the most scoring topics. Types of Data Interpretation (DI)- Tabular, Line graph, Pie chart, Bar graph, missing DI, and Caselet DI.

Data Sufficiency

 3-4 Questions can be asked from this topic. Questions will be based on miscellaneous topic. In these questions, a question is followed by two or three statements and you have determined form which statements question can be answered.

Miscellaneous

10-15 Questions can be asked. This section includes Questions from topic likes- Ratio and Proportion, Average, Profit and Loss, Partnership, Time and Work, Pipes and Cisterns, Percentage, Problems on Ages, Time, Speed and Distance, Problems on trains, Boat and Stream, Allegation or Mixture, Simple Interest, Compound Interest, Mensuration Probability.

IBPS RRB Clerk Mains Syllabus

IBPS RRB Clerk Mains Syllabus is divided into five sections- Reasoning Ability, Quantitative Aptitude, General Awareness, Computer Awareness, and English or Hindi (Optional). There will be 40 Questions for 50 Marks in Reasoning Ability, 40 Questions for 50 Marks in Quantitative Aptitude, 40 Questions for 40 Marks in the English Language or in Hindi, 40 Questions for 40 Marks in General Awareness, and 40 Questions for 20 Marks in Computer Aptitude. The total Marks will be 200 within 2 hrs. The syllabus of RRB PO Mains and RRB Clerk Clerk Mains is same. Only the difficulty level of Questions is varied. RRB Officer Scale Exam is a little bit difficult than RRB Office Assistance.

5-7 Questions can be asked. In this, a set of the sentence will be given and then we need to rearranged to form a meaning paragraph. Sometimes odd sentence which does not follow the theme of the passage will be given and then we need to find out that odd sentence.

Educational Qualification

Bachelor’s degree in any discipline from a recognized University or its equivalent. There are no aggregate marks required in graduation for filling a form. 2nd and, 3rd division student can also fill a form of IBPS RRB Clerk. You should hold a valid Mark-sheet or Degree Certificate on the day you register and indicate the percentage of marks obtained in Graduation while registering online.

Language Proficiency: Candidates should have verbal and written proficiency in official language of the State/UT. The candidate should be able to read, write and speak the language.

Computer Literacy: Basic Working knowledge of Computer.

Nationality / Citizenship:

A candidate must be either -

(i) a Citizen of India or

(ii) a subject of Nepal or

(iii) a subject of Bhutan or

Office Assistant (Multipurpose):-

All the SC/ST/PWD candidates must have to pay 100/- Rupees and all the General and OBC candidates have to pay 600/- Rupees application fee. Candidates can pay the application fee through the net banking, debit card, credit card, etc.

- Rs. 100/- for SC/ST/PWD/EXSM candidates.

- Rs. 600/- for all others

IBPS RRB Office Assistant Job Profile:-

The Office Assistants are expected to have a local language proficiency as well as basic Computer knowledge. Daily tasks of an RRB Office Assistant may vary from opening accounts, cash collection to cheque verification etc., 

IBPS RRB Office Assistant Expected Salary:-

The probation period for an IBPS RRB Office Assistant is of 1 year and expected salary can be anywhere between 15,000 - 20,000 excluding allowances. A good place to begin with as exposure will be optimum in RRBs. 

IBPS RRB Clerk Exam Pattern

The IBPS Clerk selection takes place in 2 stages - Prelims and Mains. The Preliminary exam is just a qualifying exam and the marks that you score in the Prelims are not counted towards final merit list preparation.

  • All the tests in both the exams will be available bilingually (in English & Hindi) except for English Language.
  • There will be negative marking for wrong answers. One fourth (or 0.25) of the marks assigned to that question will be deducted as penalty for wrong answers. There is no penalty for unanswered questions.
  • The scores will be normalized to equate the difficulty level of the papers in different slots.
  • You will be required to score a minimum overall cut off in both Prelims and Mains exams.
  • Besides this, you will have to score minimum cut off scores in each of the sections in both examinations.
  • However, only the score of the Main examination will be considered for Final Merit Listing.
  • The final score will be scaled to a maximum of 100.

IBPS RRB Clerk/ Office Assistant:-

IBPS RRB exams are conducted for the recruitment of Regional Rural Banks. IBPS RRB Clerk is also known as IBPS RRB Office Assistant exam which is conducted for the recruitment of Clerks in their different branches. IBPS RRB Recruitment to fill the post of Office Assistant takes place every year. Once you qualify for the exam, you are hired as an Office Assistant in one of the participating banks as per your preference, merit and IBPS RRB Cut Off.

This year, 56 Regional Rural Banks (RRBs) are participating in the IBPS RRB 2018 Exam. Some of these banks are Allahabad UP Gramin Bank, Andhra Pradesh Grameena Vikas Bank, Andhra Pragathi Grameena Bank, Arunachal Pradesh Rural Bank, Assam Gramin Vikash Bank, Baroda Gujarat Gramin Bank, Dena Gujarat Gramin Bank, etc. These Regional Rural Banks are participating in this exam from all the states across the country.
