RRB ALP Exam Pattern & Selection Procedure

RRB ALP & Technicians selection will be based on 4 stages as follows:

1.       First stage CBT

2.       Second stage CBT

3.       Computer-Based Aptitude Test

4.       Document Verification

1. First Stage CBT (Common for ALP/Technician)

  • Minimum percentage of marks for eligibility in various categories : UR -40%, OBC-30%, SC-30%, ST -25%.
  • Comprises of multiple-choice objective type questions: bilingual (Hindi/English)
  • Negative Marking will be applicable. For every wrong answer, 1/3 marks will be deducted. Total number of candidates to be shortlisted for the second stage shall be 15 times the community wise total vacancy of ALP and Technician Posts notified against the RRB as per their merit in First Stage CBT.

2. Second Stage of CBT

Shortlisting of Candidates for the Second Stage CBT exam shall be based on the normalized marks obtained by them in the First Stage CBT Exam.Total number of candidates to be shortlisted for the second stage shall be 15 times the community wise total vacancy of ALP and Technician Posts notified against the RRB as per their merit in First Stage CBT. However, Railways reserve the right to increase/decrease this limit in total or for any specific trade(s) as required to ensure the availability of adequate candidates for all the notified posts.

PART-B

  • Qualifying Marks: 35 % (Applicable to all candidates and no relaxation)
  • This paper is qualifying in nature and will have questions from the trade syllabus as prescribed by Director General of Employment & Training (DGET)

3. computer Based Aptitude Test (for Candidates who have opted for ALP)

  • Candidates require a minimum score of 42 marks in each of the test batteries to qualify. This is applicable to all candidates and no relaxation is permissible.
  • There will be no negative marking in Computer-Based AT.
  • The ALP merit list will be made only from amongst the candidates qualifying in the Aptitude Test, with 70% weightage for the marks obtained in Part A of Second Stage CBT and 30% weightage for the marks obtained in Computer-Based AT

4. Document Verification

Based on the performance of candidates in Part Aof the Second Stage CBT subject to their qualifying the Part B of Second Stage CBT (For Technician posts) and based on the performance of candidates in both Part A of the Second Stage CBT and Computer-Based AT subject to their qualifying the Part B of Second Stage CBT (For ALP), candidates equal to the number of vacancies will be called for Document Verification. In addition, candidates equal to 50% (may increase or decrease at the discretion of Railways) of the number of vacancy for various posts will also be called for DV. These additional candidates will, however, be considered for empanelment only if there is a shortfall in empanelment from the merit list or/and as replacement against the shortfall on account of non-joining of recommended candidates in the working post or/and any other special requirements.

Introduction

RRB ALP Exam is conducted by Railway Recruitment Board or RRB to recruit for Assistant Loco Pilots & Technicians. This is a common exam that the Indian Railways Conducts to recruit Assistant Loco Pilots & Technicians in various units of the Indian Railways Regions. 

Eligibility Criteria

Educational Qualifications

Assistant Loco Pilot:

  • You should have Matriculation / SSLC Plus ITI/ Course Completed Act Apprentices or Diploma/ Degree in Engineering.

Technicians:

  • Matriculation/ SSLC Plus ITI / Course Completed Act Apprentices or 10 + 2 with Physics and Maths or Diploma in Engineering (As Applicable)

 Age Limit

  • Minimum Age: 18 years

  • Maximum Age: 30 Years

RRB ALP Age Relaxation

  • SC/ST: 5 years

  • OBC: 3 years

  • PWD: 10 years

General Science

There are 4 sections in General Science section. The detailed syllabus of each section is provided below. The Questions from this section is based on the following topics.

Physics:

This section includes Questions from topics like- Units & dimensions, Force and laws of motion, Gravitation, Work & energy, Sound, Light & human eye, Electricity, Magnetic effects of electric current, Sources of energy, Atomic & nuclear physics, Electronics, Scientific instruments

Chemistry

This section includes Questions from topics like- Atomic structure, Periodic classification of elements, Chemical bonding, Oxidation and reduction, Acids, bases & salts, Behavior of gases, Electrolysis, Carbon & it’s compounds, Fuels, Metallurgy, Metals & non-metals

Biology:

This section includes Questions from topics like- The fundamental unit of life, Tissues, Diversity in living organisms, Food resources, Life processes, Control & coordination, Heredity & Evolution, Natural resources, Environmental Studies, etc.

RRB ALP Salary

The PayScale of RRB ALP is ₹19,900/- (Level 2 of 7th CPC Pay Matrix) plus allowances as admissible.

RRB Job Profile

Assistant Loco Pilot/ Technician

  1. Most importantly, you have to assist the Loco Driver in fine-tuning the locomotive.
  2. Also, you have to assist him/her in calling out signal once sighted.
  3. You have to help in attending to minor repairs of the locomotive.
  4. Finally, you also have to check the efficiency of the locomotive regularly.

This job will involve constant traveling. But this is compensated with the running allowance. Running allowance will be given based on the kilometers traveled monthly.

After the post of Assistant Loco Pilot, you can be promoted to Senior Assistant Loco Pilot and finally, Loco Pilot. After this level, you have the choice to become either a Power Controller or a Crew Controller or a Loco Foremen.

Admit Card

The Admit Cards for Railway RRB Exams are released just a couple of weeks before the Exam. Likewise, written examination RRB ALP 2018 Admit Card for document verification will be released on the official website before some days of exam. However, only those candidates will be able to download document verification call letter, who will get eligible marks in RRB ALP CBT examination.

Result

The RRB ALP Result for all exams that it holds comes out within 1-2 months of the exam date. Similarly, the RRB ALP Result 2018 will be announced after the exam takes place.

How to Apply for RRB ALP Technician Job 2018?

  1. Visit the official website

  2. You can register through RRB’s official website.

  3. Fill RRB ALP Technician Application Form with all the required details

  4. Must ensure, All data (you filled in form) matched with documents

  5. You need to pay the Application fee online using a Debit Card / Credit Card / Internet Banking / Cash Cards / Wallets or other online payment methods.

  6. Make sure you use a valid email ID, which you have to keep active until the final declaration of results.

  7. Keep a scanned photograph and signature ready as per requirements mentioned in the official notification. You will have to upload these during filling the form.

  8. pay the application fee and Submit the Application Form.

  9. Do not forget to take a printout of application form
