SBI PO Prelim Syllabus

SBI Prelim Syllabus is divided into three sections namely, Reasoning, Quantitative Aptitude, and English. The syllabus of SBI PO and SBI Clerk is the same. Only the difficulty level of Question is varies. SBI PO exam is a little bit difficult than SBI Clerk.

Reasoning 

35 Questions with 35 marks will be asked from this section in SBI PO Prelim Exam. The topics to be covered under this section are:

Puzzles and Seating Arrangement 

15-20 Questions from this topic will be asked. This is one of the most important topics in the SBI PO Exam. this topic is time-consuming but in this section high accuracy is possible and this is the most scoring topic with a clear concept.  puzzles can be based on month, day, comparison, floor, Box, or Distribution. and Seating Arrangement can be based on linear, circular, square, rectangle or North-South facing.

Blood relation 

2-3 Questions from this topic can be asked. This can be based on coded blood relation, single person blood relation or mixed blood relation

Coding Decoding

5 Questions can be asked based on a new pattern or Old pattern. this topic is less time consuming and high accuracy is possible. this is more scoring topic. Questions from this topic may be based on simple word coding, sentence coding or new pattern based coding.

Syllogism

4-5 Questions can be asked based on a new pattern or Old pattern. this topic is less time consuming and high accuracy is possible. New pattern syllogism will be Possibility based and Negative information based, and Old pattern syllogism will be based on direct questions with 2-3 statements and 2-3 conclusions.

Inequality

4-5 Questions from this topic can be asked based on new pattern or old pattern. This topic is less time consuming and high accuracy is possible.this is also a scoring topic. This can be based on multiple relations, reverse, indirect symbol or coded, direct inequality based.

Input-output

5 Questions from this topic can be asked. This topic may be time-consuming but high accuracy is possible. 

Order and Ranking 

You can expect 1-2 Questions from this topic.

Direction and Distance

You can expect 2-3 Questions from this topic.

Alphanumeric Series

5 questions from this topic can be asked. this topic is less time-consuming and high accuracy is possible. series can be based on Alphabet or Number or series of Alphabet combined with a number.

Data Sufficiency 

3-5 Questions from this topic can be asked. The question will be based on miscellaneous topic. In these Questions, a question is followed by two statements and you have to determine from which statements question can be answered.

Quantitative Aptitude 

35 Questions with 35 marks will be asked from this section in SBI PO Prelim Exam. The topics to be covered under this section are:

Simplification/ Approximation

5-7 Questions from this topic will be asked. This is one of the easiest topics and most scoring topic in this section. This is less time consuming and High accuracy is possible. Questions can be based on decimal, fractions, percentages or BODMAS rule etc.

Number Series

5 Questions from this topic will be asked. This can be based on Missing Number Series or Wrong Number Series. Missing Number series is less time consuming and high accuracy is possible.

Quadratic Equation

4-5 Questions from this topic will be asked. this topic is less time consuming and high accuracy is possible.In this, you have to solve the given two variables to know the relation between both variables.

Data Interpretation

10-15 Questions from this topic will be asked. This topic is moderate time consuming but high accuracy is possible. DI can be based on tabular form, line graph, bar graph, pie chart, missing or caselets.

Miscellaneous-

    This section includes Questions from topics likes - Ratio and proportion, Average, Problems on ages, Percentage, Profit and Loss, Partnership, Time and work, Pipes and cisterns, Time, speed and distance, Problems on trains, Boat and stream, Alligation and Mixture, Simple Interest, Compound Interest, Mensuration, Probability

General Awareness 

Try to cover the current affairs of the last 4-5 months to prepare for this section. Focus more on current banking and financial news. The major topics to be covered under this section are:

In this, you should have to familiar with knowledge of information which is going in the current. All the environmental issues, financial,  about the Indian economy, government schemes & policies, the latest science, and inventions and discoveries, books by famous personality etc, and you should go through the last 6-month current affairs before the current mains exam.

Static Gk

In this  section Questions are asked for only that knowledge which is static in nature likes National Park, Wildlife sanctuary  Dam, River, Lake, Airport, stadium, Capital currency, HQ, Important days, Important temple, Folks dance, Award, festivals, State-Capital-CM-Governor, etc

►Banking Awareness/ Financial Awareness.

This includes knowledge of banking from every angle.

SBI PO – Eligibility Criteria

Educational Qualifications (As on 01.04.2018)

  • Candidate must have a graduate degree in any discipline from a recognized University or an equivalent qualification recognized by the Central Government
  • An applicant who is in the Final Year or final semester of his Graduation is also considered eligible to apply for SBI PO 2018
  • Candidates in their final year can apply only under the condition that, if called for an interview, the candidate has to produce proof of having passed their graduation on or before August 31, 2018
  • Candidates who have Integrated Dual Degree certificate must make sure that the date of passing the IDD is on or before August 31, 2018
  • A candidate who possesses the qualification of Chartered Accountant is also eligible to apply for SBI PO 

 

Age Limit ( As on 31.08.2018)

  • Minimum Age – 21 years
  • Maximum Age – 30 years

Note: Candidates born not earlier than 02.04.1987 and not later than 01.04.1996 are considered eligible.

SBI PO Salary

  • The starting basic pay for SBI PO is Rs. 27,620/- (with 4 advance increments).
  • The pay scale is Rs. 23700-980/7- 30560-1145/2-32850-1310/7-42020.
  • Grade: Junior Management Grade Scale-I
  • Allowances: D.A, H.R.A/Lease rental, C.C.A, Medical, and other allowances & perquisites as per rules in force from time to time.
  • The total SBI PO Salary per year will be a minimum of Rs 8.20 lakhs and maximum of Rs 13.08 lakhs (depending on the place of your posting and other factors).
  • Other: SBI plans to offer, subject to necessary approvals, a SMART Compensation Package which would enable candidates a choice to monetize specific elements of the salary package.

Steps to Register for SBI PO 2018

Registration

  1. Visit the website www.sbi.co.in
  2. Click on link “Career with us” on the home-page
  3. Select ‘SBI PO 2018 Application Form’
  4. Fill Application Form with complete details like as name, educational qualifications, address, mobile number, email and other information.

Upload Images

  1. Upload scanned image of passport size photo (size-20 to 50 Kb) and signature (10 to 20 Kb) in JPEG format.
  2. The photo must be of 200 x 300 pixels while the signature must be of 140 x 60 pixels.
  3. Choose the correct file and click on open to upload.
  4. After that, click ‘Submit’ to move to fee payment window.

Pay Application Fee

  1. The application fee for General Category is INR 600 and INR 100 for reserved categories.
  2. Pay the fee online and submit.
  3. Take a printout of the application form before submission for future reference.
  4. You will receive a registration id. Note it down.

SBI PO 2018 Exam Pattern & Selection Procedure

The SBI PO Exam is conducted in 3 stages out of which the first 2 stages are Online Written Exams and the 3rd stage is that of an Interview and Group Discussion - for those candidates who qualify the first 2 stages.

SBI selection process for the PO 2018 exam consists of 3 stages, which are:

  1. Prelims Exam

  2. Mains Exam (Objective + Descriptive)

  3. Interview

  • There is one-fourth negative marking in both Prelims & Mains for each question wrongly marked!

  • Once you clear the first 2 stages of SBI PO Exam, you will have to face an Interview and Group Exercise round.

  • Once you clear all these 3 stages, you will be selected as a BankPO.

There is one-fourth negative marking in Prelims and No negative marking for unattempted questions. There is no sectional cut-offs.  you have to qualify in all 3 sections, SBI will decide the cut-offs for the same at its discretion.

SBI PO 2018 Mains will be consist of 2 parts - Objective Test (200 marks) and Descriptive Test (50 marks). Both the parts will take place online.

Aggregate marks of candidates qualifying in both Objective and Descriptive Tests will be arranged in descending order in each category. A certain adequate number of candidates as decided by the bank will be called for the Group Discussion and Interview.
