POTENT (ADJ.): (प्रभावकारी) very powerful or effective

Synonyms: dominant, vigorous

Antonyms: impotent, weak

Example Sentence:

This is a very potent drug and can have unpleasant side-effects.

 

RESISTANCE (NOUN): (प्रतिरोध) trying to stop something from happening or to stop somebody from doing something

Synonyms: halting, impending

Antonyms: acceptance

Example Sentence:

There has been strong resistance to the proposed tax increases.

 

DISCRIMINATORY (ADJ.): (भेदभावपूर्ण) unfair; treating one person or a group of people worse than others

Synonyms: biased, prejudiced

Antonyms: fair

Example Sentence:

Business leaders must take a stand against discriminatory practices.

 

VENTURED (VERB): (जोखिम उठाना) to risk going somewhere or doing something that might be dangerous.

Synonyms: menaced, risked

Antonyms: protected

Example Sentence:

She rarely ventured outside, except when she went to stock up on groceries.

 

ENCROACHMENT (NOUN): (अतिक्रमण) the act of gradually taking away someone else's rights, or taking control of someone's time, work, etc.

The new censorship laws are serious encroachments on freedom of expression.

 

OBSTRUCTION (NOUN): (रुकावट) the act of stopping something from happening or moving

Synonyms: obstacle, barrier

This car is causing an obstruction.

 

ASSERTION (NOUN): (निश्‍चयपूर्वक कथन) a statement that says you strongly believe that something is true

Synonyms: affirmation, assert

Antonyms: confusion

Example Sentence:

I certainly don't agree with his assertion that men are better drivers than women.

 

DEEM (verb): (समझना) to consider or judge something in a particular way

Synonyms: judge, consider

Antonyms: misjudge

Example Sentence:

It is deemed bad manners in some cultures to speak with your mouth full of food.

 

DEFY (Verb): (अवहेलना करना)to refuse to obey somebody/something

Synonyms: disobey, disregard

Antonyms: obey

Example Sentence:

A few workers have defied the majority decision and gone into work despite the strike.

 

SALUTARY (ADJ.): (हितकर)having a good effect on somebody/something

Synonyms: beneficial, worthwhile

Antonyms: unwelcome

Example Sentence:

The accident should be a salutary lesson to be more careful.
