Solution:

Chapter Name: Pipes and cisterns

Per hour fill by A & B = $\frac{1}{16}$ + \frac{1}{12} = \frac{7}{48}

Tank filled in 2 hours = $\frac{14}{48}$ $\times$ 240 = 70 ℓ

Water needed to fill the tank = 240 − 70 = 170 ℓ
