B is 20% efficient than A. B started the work & do it for x days. And then B is replaced by A. And A completed the remaining work in x+8 days. The ratio of work done by A & B is 3:2. In how many days A & B working together to complete the whole work?

Solution:

Chapter Name: Time and Work

A's 1 day's work = 5 unit

B's 1 day's work = 120% A = 6unit

Work done by B = 6x unit

Work done by A = 5(x + 8) = 5x + 40 unit

As per Question:

$\frac{5 x + 40}{6 x}$ = $\frac{3}{2}$

10x + 80 = 18x

8x = 80

x = 10

Then;

Total work to be done = 6x + 5x + 40 = 150 unit

Time taken by A and B in completing the whole work together = $\frac{t o t a lw or k}{e ff i c i e n cyo f A an d B}$ = $\frac{150}{6 + 5}$ = $\frac{150}{11}$ days
