In a 40 liters mixture of acetic acid and sodium acetate are in the ratio 3:1, find the amount of sodium acetate solution to be added to make the ratio 2:3.

Solution:
Chapter Name: Ratio and Proportion

Quantity of acid = litres = 30 litres, Sodium in it = 10 litres.

Let the required quantity of sodium to be added be x litres.

Then, = ⇒ 20 + 2x = 90

⇒ 2x = 70

⇒ x = 35

Sodium to be added = 35 litres.
